Factory Hazards

A picture below shows different hazards that can occur in a factory. Workers are at risk
and prone to accident, injuries and it is fatal. To reduce, if not eliminated these hazards,
control is necessary. If you were given a chance to solve the problem on worker’s safety, how
will you solve it by applying the different hazard control measures? Explain the control you will
apply to each hazard.
Answers:

1. Rubbish on the Ground

By applying Elimination, we can remove the rubbish scattered on the floor that may
causes some serious injuries if neglected.
2. Unsecured Chemicals
By applying Administrative Control, we can put the signage that indicate the Hazzard,
which is Chemical Hazzard. In this case we can avoid or minimize possible workplace
Hazard that may occurred.
3. Machine Guarding Lifted
By applying Engineering Control, we can put back the guarding of machine to it’s proper
distinction. In that way, we can prevent Hazzard at the workplace.
4. Water on the floor( slips/ trips)
By applying Administrative Control, we can put the caution signage that indicates wet
floor or slippery. The people of the vicinity will recognize it easily and avoid serious
Hazzard.
5. Stacked Material Unevenly
By applying Elimination, we can remove the boxes, put it in more stable and suitable
place and arrange it Evenly in order to prevent unnecessary Hazzard.
6. Person Walking in front of Forklift
By applying Administrative Control, we can Organize the workers properly in order to
avoid unexpected Hazzard. We can also conduct proper Orientation to the workers twice
a week if necessary, this benefit them to be knowledgeable in different danger they may
face at work if they don’t pay attention.
7. Pallets Blocking the Fire Exit
By applying Elimination, we can remove those pallets Blocking the Fire Exit and place
them in suitable place such as Warehouse or Storage. In case Disasters or Unexpected
incident occurred, fire exit should be accessible.
8. Forklift Stacker too High and the Driver Can’t See
By applying Administrative Control, we can Conduct proper Training to the workers on
how to handle tools and Equipment efficiently such as Orientation and Tool Box twice a
week. Proper training may help them enhance their skills and improve their body
conditioning that is suitable for work.
