    Between 1929 and 1933, when the first BBC program were making/were being made
    and shown, just 1,000 televisions sets bought/were bought in Britain.
    During the second world war, programs didn’t broadcast/ weren’t broadcast. So it
    wasn’t until the late 1950’s that TVs became/ were become more common in the
    average person’s house.
    Previously, people had listened/had been listened to the radio or the wireless, as it
    called/was called then.
    Nowadays, it is estimated that 90% of people can watch/ be watched TV programs.
    The worst aspect of television is that our lives are influenced/influence by everything
    we catch on TV.
