Green Concrete
Competition
1.0 Introduction

Concrete is one of the most important building materials. The main ingredient in
concrete consists of cement and aggregates. However, the use of cement in concrete
has caused negative effects on the environment. It is estimated that about 10 percent of
the world's total CO2 emissions come from manufacturing of cement. Therefore, the
use of waste materials in concrete is necessary to reduce the negative impact on the
environment.

InGreen 2022 is a competition in conjunction of FKAAB Innovation Week (InNow)

2022. This competition provides a platform for the higher institution students and
researchers to share their research works and findings on lightweight concrete block.

2.0 Objectives

2.1 To provide a platform for the students, researchers and industries to display their
innovation in green concrete product.
2.2 To inculcate interest in innovating and researching in green concrete materials.

3.0 Eligibility

3.1 InGreen 2022 is open to ALL students, researchers and staffs from public and
private higher learning institutions. The working individuals from government
sectors, industry or enterprise can be the participants. A team of participant may
register up to a maximum of FIVE (5) members.
3.2 There is no limitation for the number of teams coming from the same
organization. Similar material formulation is prohibited for the teams coming
from the same organization.

4.0 Innovation Product

The product must be Lightweight Concrete Block with the density ranging from 1200
kg/m3 – 1500 kg/m3.

5.0 Rules and Guidelines

5.1 Participants are required to produce the lightweight concrete block at their
respective places.
5.2 Sustainable materials (i.e. recycle and waste materials) are encouraged to be
used in the concrete block.
5.3 The performance and basic properties of the lightweight concrete block need
to be tested at their respective places.
