ASSESSMENT (RIZ 213-4)

1. What are mass actions and student activism? What are they for?
Should we or should we not join them? Why are students the most
common participants in them?
- Student activism is when students use their voice to raise
awareness to problems and also to empower the voices of the
unheard. They play a significant role into what we are today
especially from the given examples. These activisms shaped what
life and situation we are experiencing now. And for the question if
should we join them or not is not a matter of my choice. It
depends if you want to or if you are willing to. Rallies and
activism are a basic human right and is allowed by the
constitution so it is completely legal, it’s freedom of speech. In
Article III Section 4 “No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of
speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of
grievances”. Activism is a cry for the government to address and
resolve issues that are getting swept under the rug. And lastly,
students are the most common participant of mass actions
because they are educated and taught to be the voice of the
unheard. The youth is the future and that is why they are
fighting for a future they deserve.

2. Discuss in what situation(s) will you join a mass action, and in what
situation(s) will you not. You may include parental approval, health
problems and other reasons.
- Again, situations like this are hard to assume. I would guess if all
hell went loose, I will join but this is really not sure because I
may be vocal with my disappointments towards the issues in our
country and the whole world, my parents won’t just let me go out
there especially now that people are red-tagging simple students
practicing their basic human rights.
