Title: Performance improvement of laser drilling process using Grey relational analysis during
machining of AISI 304 stainless steel material.
 Description:
➢ AISI 304 stainless steel material being a popular engineering material is widely used in
the field of automobiles, aviation, aerospace, medical science and house hold
appliances due to its favorable properties like low thermal conductivity, high strength
to weight ratio and corrosion resistance. Conventional machining process poses
difficulty in performing drilling on this stainless steel due to poor hole accuracy.
➢ The surface roughness (Ra) and heat affected zone (HAZ) are the important features
which influence the performance of the drilled products. Among various
nonconventional machining processes, laser is one of the alternatives for performing
drilling with good aspect ratio and accuracy. In any production line, processing cost
and productivity are significantly depending on the selection of process parameters.

Duration: 6 months.
