1Introduction
1.1 ABOUT NUTANIX
Nutanix makes infrastructure invisible, elevating IT to focus on the applications and services that
power their business. The Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Platform blends web-scale engineering and
consumer-grade design to natively converge server, storage, virtualization, and networking into a
resilient, software-defined solution with rich machine intelligence. Predictable performance, cloud
consumption models, robust security, and seamless application mobility for all enterprise applications
at any scale. A single software fabric unifies your private and public clouds and delivers one-click
simplicity in managing multi-cloud deployments. One OS, one-click™.
Nutanix provides a leading next-generation enterprise cloud platform that converges traditional silos
of server, virtualization, and storage into one integrated solution and can also connect to public cloud
services. Our software-driven platform delivers the agility, scalability, and pay-as-you-grow
economics of the public cloud while addressing enterprise requirements of application mobility,
security, data integrity, and control. We have recently announced an expansion of our capabilities to
provide our customers with the flexibility to selectively utilize the public cloud for suitable workloads
and specific use cases by enabling seamless application mobility across private and public clouds.
This capability will enable hybrid cloud deployments and addresses a critical requirement for any
next-generation enterprise cloud platform. We have combined advanced web-scale technologies with
elegant consumer-grade design to deliver a powerful enterprise cloud platform that elevates IT
organizations to focus on the applications and services that power their businesses. We refer to our
platform as “invisible infrastructure” because it provides constant availability and low-touch
management, enables application mobility across computing environments, and reduces inefficiencies
in IT planning.
Leading Internet companies and public cloud providers have embraced convergence and distributed
systems and implemented web-scale technologies in their proprietary operating environments. They
took these steps because traditional siloed IT infrastructure architectures failed to deliver the levels of
scalability and operational efficiency that their dynamic businesses required. Today, organizations
across all industries are seeking to leverage IT capabilities as a competitive advantage while also
facing the limitations of traditional siloed IT infrastructure. To address these challenges, we have
pioneered a converged web-scale architecture that can be easily deployed by organizations of any size
to address the limitations of traditional IT infrastructure.

Our solution is comprised of two comprehensive software product families, Acropolis and Prism, and
is delivered on commodity x86 servers. Acropolis delivers high-performance distributed storage,
application mobility capabilities, which we are continuing to expand, and a built-in hypervisor,
software that allows multiple operating systems to share a single hardware host. Prism delivers
integrated virtualization and infrastructure management, robust operational analytics, and one-click
administration capabilities. Our solutions address a broad range of workloads, including enterprise
applications, databases, virtual desktop infrastructure, or VDI, unified communications, and big data
analytics. We have end-customers across a broad range of industries, including automotive, consumer
goods, education, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, media, public sector, retail,
technology, and telecommunications. We also sell to service providers who utilize our platform to
provide a variety of cloud-based services to their customers.

2Nutanix Solution
2.1 NUTANIX TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
Nutanix hyper-converged solutions are uniquely built using web-scale technologies and architectures
that originated in large Internet and cloud companies, such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon.
Nutanix offers a wide range of platforms to run any workload. Multiple appliance types can be mixed
in a single cluster, enabling flexible and linear scaling of capacity and performance. Attributes of all
our platforms include:

 Storage and compute resources hyper-converged on x86 servers

 All system intelligence provided in the software
 Data, metadata, and operations fully distributed across an entire cluster of x86 servers
 Self-healing to tolerate and adjust to component failures
 API-based automation and rich analytics
The Nutanix solution combines highly dense storage and server compute (CPU and RAM) into a
single platform building block. Each building block is based on industry-standard Intel
processor/server technology and delivers a unified, scale-out, shared-nothing architecture with no
single points of failure. The Nutanix platform does not rely on traditional SAN/NAS storage or
expensive storage network interconnects. Nutanix sets itself apart from competing solutions with its
uncompromising simplicity. This simplicity is demonstrated in the speed of deployment,
manageability, operations, and ease of designing successful solutions for business-critical
applications.

3Executive Summary
This document contains the install and operational test plan for the Nutanix migration for the
customer as conducted by Nutanix Services.
Nutanix Move is a complete, easy-to-deploy application mobility solution that is flexible. It provides
the highest quality recovery points, replicates them remotely for safety and delivers zero data loss
failover/failback. It also provides the ability to test disaster recovery (DR) plans easily and frequently,
without locking the customer to a specific Cloud.
Various migration scenarios require different toolsets to complete. This document provides the
functional testing checklists for the following toolsets and their corresponding migration scenarios:
