from the previous lessons. You shoud demontsrate that you read the passage carefully, present a clear
understanding of the lessons and experiences. Below are the passages for you to expound based on your own
personal experiences. (35 pts)

1. Why creativity, imagination and expression is very necessary to an ARTIST (YOU as an artist)? (Give
example of what you have done.)(10 pts)

Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or

possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining
ourselves and others.Creativity, imagination and expression is important for an artist because this
gives inspiration to us as an artist for the artwork that i am going to make or to the art that we are
going to play or do. So, that the people who can watch it’s going to understand the meaning of the
artwork that we are going to make. If an artist expressed his/her imagination though a creative art
then there will be a succesful output that an artist can do. Let say for example a painting, when me is
the artist expressed my happy emotion then my art will be creative that shows happiness. That’s
why creativity, imagination and expression is important as an artist because it gives light, meaning
and beauty of the art.

2. Put in a plain words the implication of the artists’ credo – “ARS GRATIS ARTIS” (Art for art’s sake). (10
pts)

Art for art’s sake is the phrase expresses the belief held by many writers and artists,
especially those associated with Aestheticism, that art needs no justification, that it need serve no
political, didactic, or other end. It allows you to see life from a different perspective and it makes you
feel alive. Art has always been an important part of human society since the beginning of time. Art
has been used as a tool for cultural exchange, education, and expression. . Art is a testimony of the
human condition. It encompasses all of our hardships, emotions, questions, decisions, perceptions,
Love, hatred, life, death. Essentially the way, in which we perceive our world, every aspect of
humanity can be expressed through art.

3. According to Plato “Art is that which brings life in harmony with the beauty of the world”, Make a
clear description of the passage given. Relate it to your experiences. (10 pts)

“Art is that which brings life in harmony with the beauty of the world". Art is expressed
through a certain medium or material by which the artist communicates himself to his audiences
Harmony is the visually satisfying effect of combining similar or related elements. Adjacent colors,
similar shape and related textures and that’s how art brings life harmony with the beauty in the
world. Art is a diverse range of human activity, and resulting product, that involves creative or
imaginative talent expressive of technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas.
Art, also called (to distinguish it from other art forms) visual art, a visual object or experience
consciously created through an expression of skill or imagination.

4. Expound “BEAUTY lies in the eyes of the beholder” . (5 pts)

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder used to express the fact that not all people have the
same opinions about what is attractive. In reality almost always unwarranted and deeply
troublesome. It should, in our view, be avoided in all costs. Not all tastes are equal. If beauty simply
lay in the eye of the beholders, then it would presumbly be sane to stand up. It immplies sensitivity
to conflict and a fear of being rude or mean to others. So, what is pleasing to the eyes of one person
might be ordinary or ugly to another. In other words, beauty can be subjective.
