Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 1

Welcome! And
a little about
me

Welcome and thanks for downloading this guide!

My name is Ivan and I have generated a full-time income working from home over the past few
years promoting affiliate products online.

I started online marketing in January 1st, 2017 (the exact date when I first type in "what is
affiliate marketing" into YouTube) and made my first sale a few months in.

As I began to make more sales, I eventually quit my full-time banking job and have been working
from home ever since.

I wish I had a guide just like this when I first started, because it took me a few weeks to get an
idea of what affiliate marketing is and how to make money with it.

When I first started, I naturally purchased a lot of online marketing training courses. What
bothers me the most to this day is the lack of direction and focus with some of these courses. The
instructors go offtopic with content that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I have therefore decided to make it my mission to provide you with only the most relevant
information on any topic I'm discussing and any course I'm teaching. That means that if my
course is 4 hours long, you can expect to see 4 hours of real content that you came here to see
and learn about - no fluff and no BS.

Coupled with the fact that I absolutely love to teach, I wanted to share everything I went through
in my journey, especially some things that took me hours to learn or hours of back-and-forth with
support reps for any given network/software product/etc...

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 2

Therefore I decided to create a YouTube channel and blog where I could share my content with
the rest of the world. I went through a lot of hoops and learning experiences these past 4 years,
and want to leave nothing out and share it all with you.

I created this free guide to help get you started in the

right direction. I am more of a video guy since I like to
talk more and show the screen behind my shoulder
more as opposed to typing, but I decided to write this
guide out AND include videos for those of you that
prefer to read as well as to watch.

Also, things change quite rapidly in this online

marketing world, so with a written guide I am able to
add/edit/change things around, whereas with videos
it’s not that simple and I would need to reshoot quite
a bit if just one small thing changes.

The things I cover in this guide helped me generate a

full-time income online, and helped me make my first
$400 sale. This was a ClickFunnels Funnel Hacks
offer I was promoting and I clearly remember myself
making a video talking about ClickFunnels and
generating that first sale…

Since then, my revenues and skills greatly improved

and so I am able to document all of that here and help
YOU avoid the same mistakes I did and help you get
started on the right path.

So stick with me and let’s make some money online

together.

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate Marketing Explained In a Nutshell

Here is a video I made that talks about affiliate marketing and covers this entire chapter 1 (click
the image):

In short, affiliate marketing is the process of making money (usually in the form of a “commission”,
whether a fixed amount or a percentage of sale) by referring people to someone else’s products
or services.

So let’s imagine that your friend is selling a computer and he is willing to pay you 20% of the
selling price if you find him a customer willing to buy it.

If you agree to his deal, then you have just become an “affiliate” for your friend.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 5

You benefit from this because you will make a percentage cut despite not owning the computer
and not having to deal with the transaction at all – you simply refer a potential customer to your
friend.

Your friend benefits because now he doesn’t have to go out and look for customers – he has you
doing this for him.

So he’s essentially paying for marketing – except that he doesn’t have to pay out of pocket – he
still gets a profit and just pays you a portion of that profit.

If you don’t find a buyer, then he doesn’t pay anything and therefore doesn’t lose any money.

Therefore, affiliate marketing is beneficial both for the vendor (your friend) and the affiliate (you)
for the reasons listed above.

This same concept applies in the real world too.

Majority of companies worldwide have an “affiliate program”, which just means they are willing
to give affiliates a fixed or a percentage cut for referring people to them.

Companies like Amazon, Walmart, Nike, and so on all have affiliate programs.

Think of your favorite company, or a product or service you love. Go to Google and type in “[my
company/my product] affiliate program” and see if anything shows up.

Likely it will.

And do you think that these affiliate programs are only limited to products that people have a
need for?

Think again.

Even entertainment products have affiliate programs, so you can literally make money in any
field.

Even the popular game “World of Warcraft” has an affiliate program:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 6

The reason why I’m showing you this image is to illustrate that you can promote pretty much any
product at all.

So just think of something you like and see if an affiliate program is available for that product or
service – that would be a terrific starting point.

How Does Affiliate Marketing Work In the Online World?

So I gave you a real-life example of affiliate marketing – selling your friend’s computer.

But how would a large company be able to track who referred whom when they have thousands
of customers and thousands of affiliates?

That’s where “online” affiliate marketing comes in.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 7

Not only is it easy to track who referred whom and which affiliates brought in the sales, but the
internet also allows you to communicate with millions of people in a matter of seconds, making it
a terrific opportunity to promote products online.

To give you a specific example of how this works, let’s take a look at a sample Amazon link.

Here is an example of a wallet I actually use right now:

The URL for this wallet on Amazon is as follows:

https://www.amazon.ca/Slim-Minimalist-Leather-Wallets-Women/dp/B077CQXBWV/

Now if you decided you wanted to promote this wallet, all you have to do is take this URL and
share it with people, and if they buy, you’ll make a commission, right?

Not quite.

First off, you didn’t sign up to the Amazon affiliate program, so that’s step 1…

So just type in “Amazon associates signup” into Google and click on one of the links that you find
there.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 8

The complete URL to sign up for the Amazon affiliate program is:
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

So just click that link and sign up right now if you want.

Once you sign up, you can search for the wallet (or any product) that you want to promote.

Type in the name of the specific item and you should see something that looks like this when
typing in the name of my exact wallet (“slim minimalist leather wallet”):

With the exact wallet I’m using at the top there.

If you click on the dropdown option to the right of this wallet, you’ll get a link that looks like this:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 9

This link might be a little long, and you can shorten it by clicking on “Shorten URL with
amazn.to?”. It should look like this then:

Now this is MY affiliate link – which means that if YOU click on MY link, “I” will get a commission
for it, somewhere between 1-5% of the purchase price, which isn’t much, but it adds up if a lot of
people buy.

You can see how much commissions you’ll make for the various Amazon categories by going to
this URL:

https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/help/node/topic/GRXPHT8U84RAYDXZ

The chart will look something like this:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 10

As mentioned, the commissions aren’t high, but they do add up.

However, Amazon isn’t the only source of products you can use to promote as an affiliate.

There are many other programs and products that you can promote that pay up to 100% in
commissions!

That’s right – 100% commissions – whatever you sell, you get to keep.

Companies usually do this to attract new clients and aren’t overly concerned about turning a
profit yet.

Their goal is to attract new clients and get people to sign up to their email list, and so even
though they will miss out on the initial payout, they are planning on selling more products in the
future (something called upselling, or offering a “complementary” product to someone in
addition to the main one) and making money there.

A good strategy if you ask me – get a little less profit now, but get more instant brand recognition
and ultimately more sales in the long run.

As long as you deliver value, you shouldn’t be concerned about the money – that’ll come in time.

But we’re jumping the gun here…

Let’s slow down a bit and go back to selecting a product in the first place…

Other Affiliate Marketing Networks or Products

You might be asking where to find products that pay such high commissions.

So first of all, it’s not common that a company will pay 100% commissions and is usually done by
start-up companies to get their name out there.

So don’t get your hopes up on that, I was just giving you a general idea.

However there are products that pay 50-75% commissions…

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 11

If you go to clickbank.com for example, you will find a lot of products that pay anywhere from 50-
75% in commissions.

Mind you, not every single product you encounter will be legitimate… so it’s on you to do the
research and ensure that the products or services you are promoting are legitimate and you can
put your name behind them.

ClickBank is probably the easiest affiliate network to get into. As long as you enter all your
details correctly when signing up, you should have no issues getting accepted and getting
started.

Once you’re there, click on “Marketplace” at the top, then click on the little magnifying glass, and
you’ll see something like this:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 12

If you look at the specific products I highlighted, you will see that the first one pays you a 73%
commission, and the second one has a 48% commission rate – which are incredibly high
compared to those Amazon links we were looking at earlier.

You can also see that these products are very popular with a gravity score of 778 and 488
respectively, meaning that that’s how many people successfully sold at least one of these
products in the last 30 days.

Which means you can too!

Here are some other popular affiliate networks you can join aside from ClickBank:
👉👉 maxbounty.com
👉👉 adcombo.com
👉👉 cpalead.com/login.php
👉👉 gooffers.net
👉👉 nexusoffers.com
👉👉 shareasale.com

These are just some examples. There are countless of other networks you can join to select a
product and start promoting it.

Just type in “most popular affiliate networks” into Google and you’ll see a long list.

Go through them and see which ones you like the best and just apply for them.

Mind you, some networks are stricter than others when it comes to accepting you.

They don’t want scammers/spammers/bad affiliates, and so have certain measures in place to
make sure that only legitimate affiliates sign up.

MaxBounty for example will even have a scheduled Skype call with you before accepting you to
ensure that you are legitimate.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to get on a Skype call with ClickBank. 😊😊

My Favorite Products to Promote

There are so many products to choose from – what are the best ones?!

First of all, there is no best product to promote.

It all depends on what field YOU are in and what YOU think you can promote the best.
But if you are asking this from a purely financial point of view, then my favorite products to
promote are recurring revenue monthly commission products.

That’s right – with affiliate marketing you can get paid a recurring commission EVERY MONTH!
Take ClickFunnels for example.

This was (kinda still is) a very popular and slightly overhyped funnel builder that allows you to
build out funnels in a few minutes (we’ll get into landing page building later…).

The CHEAPEST plan people can sign up for with ClickFunnels costs $97 per MONTH.

Expensive, yes, but for a lot of people it is worth it.

If you sign up for the ClickFunnels affiliate program and refer people to it, you will start off with a
30% commission rate, and as you prove yourself, you have the chance to make it a 40%
commission rate.

I have been a ClickFunnels affiliate for the past 3 and a half years and have referred hundreds of
people to them – so thankfully my commission rate is at 40%.

If you refer some people and grow your commission rate to 40%, that means that if you refer
ONE person to ClickFunnels, you will generate a 40% recurring monthly commission, ie. about
$40 USD per MONTH.

And that’s on the lower end. If someone signs up to ClickFunnels for the $297/month plan, you’ll
be getting $118/month. Guaranteed.

Unless the person you referred cancels or asks for a refund…

But if you can get QUALIFIED leads…

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 14

Then all you need is 30 people to sign up for the $297/month plan, STAY on the plan, and you’ll be
making $3,540 USD per month, which is more than enough to quit your job and then focus full-
time on affiliate marketing.

I know I make it sound easy, but once you get the hang of it and get the ball rolling… it really is.
You just need to build momentum and get it all going.

We’ll cover more of this later on in this guide, but I just wanted to show you the possibilities here.

Before we actually get started, let’s cover a few more things here with regards to affiliate
marketing.

Let’s look at some real-life examples and some other ways of doing affiliate marketing before we
begin.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 15

Real life examples of affiliate marketing

Here is another exclusive video showing real-life examples of affiliate marketing in play (click the
image again):

OK, so you should have a good understanding of affiliate marketing by now.

Let’s take a look at some real-life examples of affiliate marketing to help you get a better
understanding of how it works.

Basically, you’re about to see how some people utilize affiliate marketing on their blogs, YouTube
channels, and other means to make money online.

These are ways YOU can use as well to make your money as well. Some of these methods take
longer to set up, and others are more expensive, but allow you to get results immediately. I
personally prefer to pay a little more but start seeing results right now, so I’ll show you how to do
that by the end of this guide, but for now, let’s take a look at some of these examples.

And by the way, here is what the cycle for affiliate marketing generally looks like:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 16

Basically an affiliate will put the affiliate link that we discussed somewhere on their website, and
then bring traffic to that site, whether paid, or through search engine optimization (SEO), ie.
Google organic search results.

If people buy the products or services through that link, then the vendor gets a sale and the
affiliate (you) will get a commission.

Keep this process in mind as we go through some examples.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 17

Example 1: https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-windows-10-vpn

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 18

On this website, “Tom”, who is our “reviewer”, is comparing the top 10 Windows VPNs.

I came across this website by typing in “top 10 VPNs” in my search browser:

Tom clearly did a good job of ranking in SEO, so that whenever someone types in something
related to VPNs, it’s very likely that his website will come up.

And the more visitors Tom gets to his site, the more chances he has that someone will buy
something, and he will make a sale.

That’s how people make money from home – by making sites like this and adding affiliate links.

Now using SEO to rank your site is a lengthy tactic that takes time.

It’s something I’m using right now with my website, but it’s something I didn’t originally start
with.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 19

This guide will show you how you can get started and potentially make money TODAY, so we’ll be
focusing on paid traffic, but regardless, I wanted to show you how people use affiliate marketing
in their blogs or review sites to make money.

Click on the site and just take a look – he reviews 10 VPN sites, and so has 10 affiliate links, if not
more – lots of opportunities to make money online.

So if anyone clicks on any of the links that say “go to site” or the like and buy, Tom will make a sale.

Tom also makes some references to some other affiliate products where the user does not have
to click on the “go to site” button. He subtly promotes these products by adding the links in the
context of what he’s talking about, and will also get affiliate commissions for people clicking (and
most importantly) buying the products.

Let’s take a look at another example of affiliate marketing that doesn’t contain explicit links.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 20

Example 2: https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/diet-plan

This is another form of an affiliate link – notice that it’s more of an image, or “banner ad” and not
actual text that says “click here”.

Regardless, this is an effective way of promoting affiliate products.

You can have these banner ads on the side of your website, top of the website, in between
sections as shown here, and so on. Basically, wherever space allows for it.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 21

But they catch the users’ eyes and make them click if the product is relevant to the offer they are
discussing.

So this is another effective way of promoting products online.

Example 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMMgvkLj8es

This example doesn’t include a blog or website, but rather a YouTube video.

Yes, you can do affiliate marketing in a variety of ways, it doesn’t only have to be limited to a
website and you can get really creative in how you make money online.

Sean (the creator of this video) not only brings up some affiliate links in the video, but also has
them in the description:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 22

If people click on “See More” in the description and click on these links and buy, Sean will make a
commission. With just slightly over 300,000 views as of making this guide, these commissions
could quickly rack up.

Here’s another idea – find big YouTubers and pay them to add YOUR affiliate link to THEIR
description. An excellent way to make affiliate commissions as well without owning a YouTube
channel.

Example 4: https://funnels-trial.com/free-trial-14-days-ca

The main thing to notice here is not the website – although it looks pretty much exactly like the
main ClickFunnels website and that’s what the owner is trying to do – but HOW this user is
trying to get people to see his page.

So this user isn’t ranked in SEO, but instead has created a Google ad to show his site:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 23

And this is the strategy we’ll be taking – running paid ads via Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and
Microsoft Ads to our landing page to make money online.

I even have courses on these topics that go into great detail (all video tutorials) teaching you all
the steps from A to Z in how to use these traffic sources.

You can see my courses here.

But the point of this example was to show you that there are SO many ways of promoting affiliate
products and making money online…

It’s up to you to determine which method you like best. But if you want to get started right now
and not have to wait for Google to rank your site, follow me and let’s build everything out and
then run some paid ads!

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 24

2
Let’s Get Started!

OK, so by now you should have a really good understanding of what affiliate marketing is and
how it works.

But what we didn’t cover yet is how exactly to get started.

So that’s what this next part is about – getting started and having YOUR ad up on Google or
Facebook or Bing so that you can make money online.

Let’s get started!

Step 1 Sign Up for an Affiliate Network/Program

If you still haven’t signed up for an affiliate network or program for the product you want to
promote, this is the very first thing you have to do, even if you’re not sure what you want to
promote yet.

I already provided you with some options earlier in the guide, but here are some examples again
of affiliate networks you can sign up for:

Here are some other popular affiliate networks you can join aside from ClickBank:
👉👉 maxbounty.com
👉👉 adcombo.com
👉👉 cpalead.com/login.php
👉👉 gooffers.net
👉👉 nexusoffers.com
👉👉 shareasale.com

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 25

Some of these networks allow you to see what products they have that you can promote before
you sign up, but if not, you’ll just have to sign up for them first and find out once you’re approved.

As mentioned earlier, ClickBank is the easiest to get into, so just sign up for ClickBank here.

Do you already know for a fact what specific product or service you want to promote?

Then just go into Google and type in “[my company/my product] affiliate program” and see if
anything shows up.

If it does, excellent – sign up for that program immediately and hopefully you should get your link
soon. If not, you might have to find another product or service to promote.

Sometimes it takes a few days to get approved for the affiliate network, so you should apply to
every affiliate program you can just in case while waiting for approval from other networks.

When signing up for these affiliate programs, you will sometimes be asked “interview-type”
questions, such as how long you’ve been doing affiliate marketing for.

Just be honest and tell them you’re just starting out but very eager to learn and get going.

Everyone starts out somewhere and the top experts now started out as beginners one day... so
just be upfront and if you do have to go through a Skype call or interview, just relay the fact that
you’re a newbie but are willing to learn. That should get you approved.

If you are asked for a referral, feel free to put my name down – Ivan Mana.

Just say that you are following my training to get started – that should be enough for some of the
networks that I worked with.

As mentioned, ClickBank is probably the easiest to get into, so just sign up and within a few hours
to a day, you should get accepted.

Once you do, head in there and look at the marketplace and see if you like any products.

Either way, we’ll be covering product selection in the next step.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 26

Step 2 Decide What You Want to Promote

Once you get accepted into the affiliate network or program of your choice, it’s time to select
your product.

If you know what you want to promote already, great!

Just go ahead and grab the affiliate link for the product and save it in a notepad – we’ll be using it
later on.

If not, you can just go to the affiliate network’s marketplace that you got accepted into and see
what’s available – you can get ideas just by looking at what they have.

You might not even be sure what exactly you want to promote yet, so doing this will also allow
you to get some ideas.

For example in ClickBank, you can filter by “gravity score” as mentioned earlier, so you can see
what products are sold the most.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 27

Just to give you a rough breakdown, there are 3 big dominating “niches” in the affiliate marketing
space.

They are:

1. Fitness and weight loss

2. Dating and relationships
3. Make money online

These are some of the most searched for topics, but also the most competitive. But if you are
having trouble finding your product to promote, I’d go with one of these niches and then go
deeper into it.

So for weight loss for example, rather than promoting a product that just helps you “lose weight”,
you can make promote one that helps you “get abs after pregnancy” or “lose weight in 3 weeks
without working out”. Something like that – a little deeper into one of these niches so it’s not as
generic.

Ideally you promote products in niches that you know about and are comfortable with. This is
because later on, you’ll be giving your landing page visitors a “freebie” (something of value for
free) to attract them to your page and get them to enter their email so you can engage in email
marketing.

In addition to that, you’ll be sending out emails, adding content to your pages, and so on, so it’s
much easier to do if you are comfortable and familiar with your topic and can talk about it at
length with your audience.

You can of course hire someone to do the research for you and write everything out, but that’ll
cost money and if you know the topic better than anyone – it’s much better for you to be the one
writing about it, not someone else who’s just going to research it and try to put something
together.

If you don’t know much about the topic, you can also do the research yourself when the time for
it comes. But if you know a lot about your topic, then you probably also know about the audience
engaged with this topic and how they can benefit from what you’re selling.

Once you find your topic, you’re ready to move on to the next step – testing the demand for your
product!

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 28

Step 3 Check the Demand for Your Product or Service

Now that you know what you want to promote, you have to check and make sure that there’s
enough demand for your product or service.

The way you do that is with something called a “keyword planner tool”, and there is a variety of
tools you can use for this, some free and some paid.

For example if you sign up for a free Google Ads account at ads.google.com, you will be able to
use their keyword planner tool for free.

Another good free tool I like is Neil Patel’s Uber Suggest. This is also a free keyword planner tool
that can give you the same information as the Google Ads one.

These tools will allow you to plug in any keyword(s) you want and see how many people search
for those keywords every month. A keyword is a word that causes your ad and website to show
up in search results.

If there’s less than 500 searches for a given keyword or group of keywords per month, I probably
wouldn’t bother promoting that product. Anything over 2,000 searches per month is a good
starting point.

Keep in mind that the number of searches per month also correlates to competition.

So if you want to promote a weight loss product and are using “lose weight” as the keyword,
you’ll see millions of searches per month.

This also means there is a LOT of competition for this keyword, and likely the cost per click for
paid ads might be fairly high.

So just keep in mind that a high number of searches means there is a lot of demand, but there is
also going to be a lot of competition and a higher than average cost to promote.

That being said, have you signed up for a free Google Ads account yet so you can use their
keyword planner tool?

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 29

Once you create an account and you log in, click on “Tools & Settings” at the top and click on
“Keyword Planner”:

Then, click on “Discover New Keywords” and add your keywords you want to test (make sure to
enter your audience location. Don’t leave it at the default country since it’s likely that more
people from around the world would be interested in your offer as well):

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 30

In our case, let’s suppose we are really interested in promoting a custom keto diet product
(popular offer on ClickBank), but we aren’t sure what the demand for this is.

We can type in “custom keto diet” into this keyword planner and let’s see what we get:

Not bad at all – 1,600 searches per month for the keyword “custom keto diet”, 3,600 for the
keyword “keto custom plan”, and 2,900 for “keto custom plan reviews”.

Definitely lots of search volume and this lets you know that there is a lot of potential here that
can be utilized once we create our landing page and start running our ads.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 31

Here is a video that shows how to use this keyword planner tool to do your research:

So go ahead and select your product or service.

If you really like the recurring commission products I suggested earlier, go ahead and type those
into the keyword planner and see how many people are searching for those.

Of course don’t forget to apply to the affiliate programs for these companies first and read their
rules – some of them don’t allow brand bidding or using the search engine with certain keywords.
So just keep an eye out for that.

Once you select your product, you are ready to build out a landing page (standalone “website”
page) that’s going to take people to the affiliate offer (and optional thank you page first).

Not sure how to build out a landing page?

Let me show you in the next step!

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 32

Step 4 Create a Landing Page

So you have selected your offer and are probably really excited to get going and start promoting
it…

So am I!!

Now what we have to do is create a landing page…

What is a landing page?

A landing page is like a standalone website page that only contains one page which provides
some information about an offer and allows the user to enter their email in return for something,
usually a free item or sometimes a paid item.

You don’t NEED an offer and an email submit – a landing page could be a page that simply
redirects people to a sales page after the user clicks a button and “agrees” to accept what you
offer, such as accepting to “see the sales page” of a product that you are selling and talking about.

This is a great alternative to a website because building a website takes time and managing it
constantly is an investment.

Now I’m not saying that a website is bad at all – I myself have a website and I spend a lot of time
maintaining it.

But if you want to run some ads and make some money right now without needing to learn how
to create a website (there is a learning curve in building out and maintaining a website), I would
argue that a landing page is the way to go.

There are many different ways we can create a landing page.

We can use Wordpress, set up hosting, buy a domain, and create a page there, ideally with an
addon like Thrive Themes that can help you create high-converting landing pages.

In fact, I have a video showing you how to install WordPress, another video showing you how to
install Thrive Themes to your WordPress, and another video showing you how to build out a
52.68% conversion rate landing page using Thrive Themes.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 33

Thrive Themes is by far the cheapest alternative (costing about $30/month in TOTAL for
everything), but it also takes the longest to set up and master).

There is no right answer as to what you should use to build out your landing page.

But here are some of my suggestions:

There are many great landing page builders out there:

👉👉 Unbounce
👉👉 ClickFunnels (yes, it’s not just an affiliate program)
👉👉 Instapage
👉👉 Instabuilder
👉👉 Wordpress & various addons like Thrive Themes
👉👉 Leadpages

And many others… just type in “best landing page builders” in Google and see what comes up…
The prices can also differ for these as well as the learning curve.

For example the learning curve for ClickFunnels is really easy, but it costs at least $97/month.
Standalone Wordpress (no Thrive Themes) takes a lot to master since there is just so much to
learn, but it’s way cheaper, and you can probably get away with paying $15/month for it as long
as you are willing to take the time to learn it all.

So which landing page builder you use to build out your page is completely up to you, but I have
chosen Unbounce as my chosen builder.

I use Wordpress for my main website, ivanmana.com, and have used ClickFunnels, Instapage and
Leadpages before.

I didn’t use Leadpages and Instapage much, but have half a dozen videos on Leadpages you can
see on my YouTube channel here.

I also have a comparison video between ClickFunnels and Unbounce here.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 34

But my primary choice for a landing page builder is still Unbounce for 2 reasons:

1 They have the capability to add dynamic text replacement. (click to see video)

This becomes incredibly powerful once we start building out our ad campaigns because this
allows for the keyword that triggered someone to click on your ad to actually show up on
your landing page.

So let’s suppose that you had a keyword (word that you specify that causes your ad to show
up – discussed at great detail in my Google & Microsoft Ads courses) “make money online”.

If someone types that phrase into Google that triggers your keyword “make money online”,
if you set up dynamic text replacement correctly, then your landing page will say “make
money online”.

And this adds an absolutely incredible experience to the user when it comes to search ads.

The user searched for something, clicked on an ad that gave them exactly what they
wanted, and then landed on a landing page that gives them exactly what they want.

This will increase your Google/Microsoft Ads quality score (discussed in the Google Ads
course), as well as increase the overall experience of your visitors and thus increase the
likelihood of them buying.

In short, this tool greatly increases your Google Ads/Microsoft Ads rankings, and increases
the chance that your visitors will make a purchase after seeing your landing page (and going
to the sales page).

2 They are so very flexible when it comes to moving elements around.

With other landing page builders, you are given certain “grids” and have to put elements in
those grids.

Take ClickFunnels for example – you have to place elements within these boxes that you are
given, and if you want to place something outside of those boxes, you have to use custom
code, which even I am not that well-versed in after years of marketing online. Here is what
the ClickFunnels boxes look like (next page):

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 35

With Unbounce, you can drag any elements anywhere you want at all.

No boxes, no constraints. All control belongs to you.

And as mentioned, if you want to see the difference between these 2 landing page builders,
check out this video where I compare the two.

OK, where were we…

Back to building out our landing

page.

Building a landing page isn’t

something that I can just talk to
you about, so check out these
videos to learn how to do that
instead.

I have my newest video on building out a high-converting (52.68% conversion rate – very high
conversion rate) landing page. You can watch it here (click the image below):

I also have my slightly older video on building out a landing page with Unbounce here (click the
image below):

If ClickFunnels intrigues you, check out this video on how to build out a landing page with them:

This video is a bit outdated, but the idea should be the same. If you want to try Leadpages, check
out this video instead:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 38

Point is, you have many options and on my YouTube channel I have a wide variety of videos
showing you how to build landing pages with different page builders, including Unbounce,
ClickFunnels, Leadpages, and Thrive Themes (thus far..)

So just select your builder and build out your page!

If you are using an email submit form, then you need to give something to people that will make
them want to enter their email (and possibly other details, such as name as well).

A good way to get someone to sign up is by offering them a freebie – kind of like what I did on my
website by offering you this guide.

But what is the best kind of freebie to include for your potential clients? Let’s find out.

What type of freebie should you give out?

To get people to opt in to your landing page form (if you do decide to add an optin, which is highly
recommended), you have to give something to your prospective client that they will want.

Giving a freebie also lets the prospective client know more about you and your style of giving
value.

For example I like to make videos, so if you like the videos I made in this guide, you will likely also
enjoy any other product I have to offer where I make those same videos.

But what freebie should you give out?

You have many different options.

Like me, you can include a PDF e-book about the topic of interest for your audience.

If you are promoting a weight loss product, maybe you can give your audience a PDF on how to
lose weight in 3 easy steps, or something like that.

You can either create the PDF yourself, assuming you know the information or are willing to do
the research for it, or you can hire someone to do it for you.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 39

A good resource I always use to get help is Fiverr.com.

It’s kind of like a marketplace where you can hire someone to do a piece of work for you, in a
variety of industries. It’s called “Fiverr” because some services cost $5 USD, but I generally don’t
mind paying more for higher-quality work.

You can hire someone to design your PDF guide, or you can even hire someone to do all the
research for you and put it together – depends how far you want to go, how much you want to
pay, and how involved you want to be in the process.

Communication is crucial with whoever you’ll decide to work with, so I always like to work with
English-speakers who have 5+ stars review, as you know these people care about their reviews.

But of course you don’t need to offer a PDF.

In our example in one of the landing pages we built out, I was sending people a free video for
signing up, so that definitely works too.

However it’s up to YOU to decide what your customer wants.

As long as you find out what your prospective client is most interested in and what they want to
know the most, you can deliver the value to them in any way, whether it’s a video, PDF guide, or
even an audio!

If you’re completely new to the niche and aren’t sure what your customer wants, I would go
through YouTube videos, forum posts, community sites, etc... on the given niche of your choice
and just pay attention to what are asking for/having the most trouble with.

Once you know the biggest issue in your industry/niche, you can address it in your freebie. And
that will certainly ensure that they will sign up to your list to collect it.

So what should your freebie be?

Anything that solves your prospective client’s problem, whether it be a video, guide, or audio, or
perhaps some free samples/trials/products if you can send them that.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 40

But Wait. You Said Something About a Thank You Page...
What’s That About?

Good catch.

A thank you page is a page that goes after your landing page – a page that “thanks” the user for
signing up and tells them where they can expect to get their promised item, etc…

So in this case, you entered your email to get this free PDF guide, then landed on MY thank you
page thanking you for providing your email and telling you what the next steps are.

The benefits of a thank you page are twofold:

1 It tells the visitor what to expect next.

If a user enters their email and nothing happens… or they get taken straight to an affiliate
offer after signing up to get a free guide, don’t you think they will get confused and have the
feeling that they were “scammed” even though all they have to do is check their email?

This thank you page lets them know where they are at in the process, what they can expect,
and gives them opportunity to go to the affiliate offer sales page if they choose to do so.

2 Skipping the point above wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for this point #2.

And that is that adding a thank you page allows you to add tracking pixels to this page to
track how many people signed up.

Not only will you be able to track how many people entered their email so you can see how
effective your funnel is and what you are doing right/wrong, but you will also be able to
create a remarketing list out of the people that signed up, thus showing them targeted ads
since they already saw your products and are familiar with your brand.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 41

You also know exactly where they are in the funnel, so you can show them targeted ads.

Studies show that only 1-3% of the people visiting your website for the first time convert…
which means the other 97-99% of them buy on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and n’th visit. This
is where remarketing comes in.

Remarketing is an advanced topic, but it can help you make the most out of every customer
who visits your website, since when they leave, you get to show them remarketing ads
taking them back to your site.

But remarketing/retargeting is a whole other beast and I won’t tackle it in this beginner’s
guide…

If you want to learn more about remarketing and how to apply it with your Google Ads and
Facebook Ads campaigns, check out my courses on remarketing on the “My Courses”
section of my site. It’ll teach you everything you need to know about the subject from A to
Z.

So you know that adding a thank you page is a

pretty awesome addition to your landing page…

But how do you do it?

Easily!

The exact same way you created your landing

page based on the videos I show above.

Just instead of adding the email submit form and

telling people what the offer is that they are
about to sign up for or get, thank the visitor and
tell them what to expect.

That’s it!

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 42

Step 5 (Optional): Set Up An Email Autoresponder

Adding an email submit form is an excellent way to make the most out of every potential
customer visiting your website because it allows you to do email marketing to them after they
visit your website.

As mentioned, the vast majority of people don’t buy the first time around, so even if they sign up
to your email list, they might never purchase your product.

But with an email list, you are able to send them many different product offers and keep in touch
with them.

So it’s an excellent addition and way to “boost” your earnings.

The cool thing about this is that you can create a bunch of emails, and they’ll be sent out
automatically to your subscribers – you don’t need to manually create the emails and send them
out every day.

You can take one day today, write out 10 emails, and have those emails be sent out automatically
over the next 10 days.

There are many different autoresponder tools you can use, such as:
👉👉 GetResponse
👉👉 AWeber
👉👉 ActiveCampaign
👉👉 MailChimp
👉👉 ConvertKit

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 43

I believe MailChimp has a free plan, but the one I use is GetResponse.

I can’t say much about other autoresponders, other than the fact that I used GetResponse for my
entire affiliate marketing journey from the start, and they haven’t disappointed me… yet….
Most of these autoresponder software offer a 30-day free trial, including GetResponse, so you
can check it out and see if it’s right for you.

The idea behind an email sequence is to build trust with your audience.

You want to give, give, give, and only then ask for something.

An example of this is if you want to sell something, you would send the first 3-4 emails full of
value to your subscribers – that means teaching them something, giving them freebies, talking
about tips, tricks and techniques, and so on…

Only THEN, on the 4th or 5th day can you “ask” for something, ie. promote a product and suggest
they buy it and so on.

People are smarter nowadays then when the internet first came about…

They can smell lies a mile away so if you try to just sell them things right off the bat, that just ain’t
gonna work. They’ll know you’re in it only for YOU and not for them, and that’s not the type of
relationship you want to build.

So you have to truly care about your audience and make them KNOW that you care about them.

Key here is not “think”. You’re not making them “think” they care.

You DO care and you want them to KNOW it.

So you provide value, value, value, and just offer an affiliate product or your own product once in
a while.

That’s it and that’s the name of the email marketing game.

If you decide to use GetResponse, once you sign up, I have an entire YouTube playlist (12+ videos)
on how to create an autoresponder sequence, and so on.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 44

You can check that playlist out here (click the image again):

If you want to then integrate GetResponse with your landing page builder, I have some videos on
that as well.

Here is how you integrate GetResponse with Unbounce:

Here is how you integrate GetResponse with ClickFunnels:

Here is how you integrate GetResponse with Leadpages:

Once you do that, you should be good to go!

Onto the last step now – let’s actually get our products out there and send some paid traffic!

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 46

Step 6 Promote Your Landing Page

So now you should have everything set up and ready to go – time to show the world our landing
page!

There are many different ways you can do this.

As we saw earlier, you can create a YouTube channel and add links in the description…

Or you can keep building out your landing page until it becomes a full-fledged website (more so
with Wordpress, not so much other software, which are meant for standalone landing pages).

Or…

We can invest a little but get results right now.

Which is what this guide is about – teaching you affiliate marketing and how you can get results
immediately with paid traffic.

Yes, you will have to invest a little bit to see results.

But you can really spend as little as $5 per day and you’ll start seeing consistent traffic flow to
your website as you experiment and test different offers.

My favorite traffic sources are Google Ads and Microsoft Ads because they are search ad
networks – meaning that if someone searches for something, you can create an ad for whatever
they are searching for and they’ll be more likely to buy because they actively searched for it.

Facebook Ads is a little different in that users don’t go to Facebook to buy things – they go there
to relax, so when you show them ads, it “disrupts” them and only if the ad is appealing enough,
will they be willing to look at it, and *maybe* buy.

Both networks are very powerful and have billions of users you can reach.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 47

That being said, I can’t decide which network is best for you.

There is no right answer, and personally I love Google and Microsoft Ads.

To rank these 3 in order of traffic, Google Ads has the most search volume, followed by Facebook
active monthly visitors, followed by Microsoft Ads.

Meaning if you want to get as much traffic as possible as quickly as possible, I would go with
Google or Facebook.

I have some in-depth courses that go into great step-by-step detail to help you master these ad
networks, so check these courses out here.

To help you decide, take a look at some of my YouTube videos that will help you create campaigns
and allow you to decide which is right for you.

Here is my Google Ads step-by-step training video (click the image below😊😊):

Here is my Facebook Ads step-by-step training video:

Here is my Microsoft Ads playlist (no standalone video 😥😥):

So definitely check these out and start running your ads as shown in the video.

you, feel free to check them out here:

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 49

But that being said, you should now have a good understanding of affiliate marketing and have
everything you need to succeed!

If you want to see a video showing you how to do all this from start to finish with Google Ads as
the traffic source, check out this video here:

Everything else you learn now is an addition that builds on top of what we learned here.
But this is the basis that will allow you to make money online regardless of your niche or whether
you want to make a standalone landing page or full-fledged website.

There is one more important step here that’s not *needed* to make money online and promote
your offers… but something that will definitely become necessary as you start spending more on
ads and expand to new ad networks, ie. not ONLY promote on Google Ads, but also use
Facebook, Microsoft, other smaller traffic sources, etc…

And that is conversion tracking…

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 50

Step 7 Conversion Tracking

Once you start expanding and becoming better and better at affiliate marketing, conversion
tracking becomes a must because you will need to see what works and what doesn’t.

When you first start out and spend $5 a day on Google Ads, you will easily know if your revenue
exceeds your costs, but once you start spending $20 a day on a variety of ad networks and start
seeing sales, you won’t know where the sales came from unless you set up conversion tracking.

That’s why it’s extremely important to get this set up as soon as you can afford it or as soon as
possible so that you not only get the good habit in place, but also start seeing what works and
what doesn’t.

The reason why it’s so important is let’s suppose you spent $10 on Google and Facebook Ads
today and made one sale worth $5.

Without tracking, you will have no idea which of these traffic sources generated you that sale.
Let’s speed things up a bit and say that after 5 more days, you now spent $50 on Google and
Facebook Ads and made $25.

Without tracking, you have no idea which ads to pause, and which traffic source is generating
revenue for you or not.

With tracking, you might have found out that Facebook Ads is completely useless and generated
$0 worth of sales, and 9 out of 10 Google ads didn’t convert for you at all.

So as it turns out, you spent $1 on that one successful Google ad and made $25, whereas you
spent $49 on all other Google and Facebook ads and made $0.

With tracking, you’ll be able to quickly and easily identify this and pause/delete your
unsuccessful ads and increase the spend on your profitable ad.

So now, you would be able to spend $10 a day on that ONE successful ad and make $50 per day,
rather than wasting so much money on the unprofitable ads.

Affiliate Marketing for Beginners 51

So how do you start “tracking”?

There are a few tracking tools you can use, such as Voluum (very expensive but advanced) and
ClickMagick, but I’m just going to flat-out suggest ClickMagick.

It has served me incredibly well for my entire affiliate journey from start to finish, is very cheap
for what it provides ($27/month compared to Voluum’s $65/month), and does tracking
exceptionally well.

I have a YouTube playlist with 48+ ClickMagick videos, so feel free to check them out here:
