For the information and guidance of all concerned, attached is a copy of the Guidelines on the Use of Electronic Tablet Issued by the University. 2. The purpose of this policy and guidelines is to ensure that users understand the proper use of the electronic tablet and abide with the Usage Policy and Guidelines. a. Scope: This policy applies to all bonafide students of lloilo Science and Technology University who are issued electronic tablets by the University. b. Policy: Itis the policy of ISAT U to lend tablet devices to ISAT U Iloilo City Campus bonafide higher education students to be returned at the end of each semester. Those in receipt of the tablets must adhere to this Usage Policy and Guidelines to ensure functionality of the electronic tablet. The use of the tablets will be primarily for educational and other related purposes only. The tablets shall not be used to send or knowingly download or upload any vulgar, discriminatory, or pornographic content. Users shall refrain from making any false or defamatory statements on any form or committing any other acts that could expose the University to liability. c. Procedures: 1. Receipt of tablet. Each college through its Department Heads will issue to each user a tablet that includes appropriate applications for use in the blended learning management system. Each department within the College shall have one designee who will assist the IT manager in disseminating the tablet to the appropriate User and in the necessary updates of the software applications. 2. Care of the Tablet. Users are responsible for the general care of the tablet and its accessories issued by the university. Tablets and their accessories must remain free of any writings, drawing, stickers, or labels that are not the property of the university. Only a clean, soft cloth should be used to clean the screen, 3. Software on the Tablet. The software and applications installed by the university must remain on the tablet in usable condition and readily accessible at all times. From time-to-time, the university may require Users to check in their tablets with the IT Manager to add or upgrade software applications or for periodic updates and syncing. In the event it becomes necessary to restore a tablet to its original condition, the university will not be responsible for the loss of any software or data deleted due to a re-format and/or re-image. Any software, email message, or files downloaded via the internet become the property of the university and may only be used in ways that are consistent with applicable licenses, trademarks or copyright. The university is the sole licensee of the software installed in the tablet. Any copying, modification, or distribution of any software and sharing of electronic modules and written documentation by the User is prohibited. The user is responsible for complying with any hardware, software, service provider licensing agreements, terms of use, and applicable copyright and other intellectual property protections. The User may not download a file or open an email attachment unless he/she knows that the file or attachment comes from a trustworthy source. Acceptable Use. The tablet the University provides to User shall be primarily for educational purposes only. The Tablet is not to be used for operation of a business for personal gain, sending chain letters, or any other purposes that is contrary to the vision and mission of the university. Users shall not use the tablets for any illegal activity. 5, Users Responsibility. itis the responsibility of the User to ensure that the tablet is kept in good and safe condition. Should a tablet or its accessories be accidentally lost, damaged, or stolen, the user shall be required to pay the corresponding amount for the tablet andlor its accessories. Moreover, a student will present himself/herself before the Office of the Student Affairs to determine his/her accountability based on some pertinent provisions of Student Code of Discipline 2019 Revised Edition. 6. Security of the Tablet. The user is responsible for the security of all data stored on the tablet, whether related to University electronic modules. The User will maintain appropriate password protection for data on the tablet, and will not delete or modify any security features that the University uploads on the tablet. The user shall notify the IT Manager or department designee as soon as possible if the tablet is lost or stolen. 7. Retum of the Tablet. The users shall return the tablet to the IT Manager or department designee at the end of each semester. This shall be a requirement for clearance. Upon retum of the tablet to the University and following the preparation of any appropriate backup files, the tablet will be wiped clean of any and all information, and issued to the User's successor. Upon return, the stored data will be deleted or wiped out to be ready for the User’s successor. 8. Compliance with Policy. The university reserves the right to inspect any and all files stored on any and all tablets that are the property of the university in order to ensure compliance with this policy. The users does not have any personal right in any material, data, files, programs, etc. created, received, stored in, or sent from any university-issued tablet. The IT Manager is hereby authorized to institute appropriate practices and procedures to ensure compliance on this policy. Any violation of this policy by students may result in disciplinary actions as deemed appropriate. 9. Acceptance Use Policy. The users will sign the ISAT U Tablet Usage Policy before receiving the tablet. We hereby certify that we fully understand the terms and conditions of this Tablet Usage Policy. By affixing our signatures, we fully conform to all the provisions of this policy.
