R.A 9208
ANTI-TRAFFICKING IN PERSON ACT
R.A. 9208 is only one of the laws which give protection to workers, children, and
women, inter alia. The Philippines has a long history of legislation aimed at protecting
the rights and welfare of children.
To defend the defenseless from being seduced, misled, or just plain kidnapped and
made to work. False promises and lies are common tactics used by traffickers to
manipulate and profit from their victims. Human trafficking victims may be compelled to
engage in prostitution, domestic servitude, slave labor, or other forms of forced labor,
among other things. After narcotics, human trafficking is the second-largest global
criminal industry. The Philippines, which has one of the highest victim populations in
the world with an estimated 784,000 individuals living as modern slavery, is a major
issue for human trafficking in Asia's western Pacific region.
I learn that to be conscious of our location Don't visit the locations by yourself. Never
go abroad to pursue a modeling or acting profession. Never travel alone abroad.
Anything that seems too good to be true probably is. Be mindful of your surroundings.
Know our location. It's preferable to make a mistake than to take no action at all and
have horrible things occur. Be mindful of the people you are speaking with. Prevention
is preferable to treatment.
As students, it can be advantageous to us because, in today's society, all of the victims
are young students, and there is legislation that can assist us in preventing this issue.
The majority of the report from the previous year was devoted to human and child
trafficking, so as students, we should be aware of these issues and cautious about who
we speak with and where we go. Criminal acts against humanity include human
trafficking. The Philippines passed R.A. in an effort to address the issue. 9208, the Anti-
Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, which prohibits child prostitution, sex slavery, sex
tourism, and other forms of human trafficking.
The most heinous type of evil this earth has to offer is child trafficking. To the vast
majority of people on the planet, anyone who would deliberately seek out and target a
youngster to control and exploit like a disposable item is pure evil. The fact that
underage children are targeted for their personal features and characteristics—which
are present in every child alive today—upsets me the most about child trafficking.
Naivety, innocence, unadulterated delight, openness to novel ideas, the inability to lie,
etc. are examples of personality traits and characteristics that are inherent to human
beings and not the effect of external circumstances. The greatest measure that can be
taken to prevent human trafficking is knowledge of the various types of human
trafficking one being of a sexual nature and the second being best described as one
accomplished through extortion perpetrated by means known as white collar or
organized crime. The second type is much harder to recognize because it appears as
though it is legal and it is effected by people that you are suppose to be able to trust
and most of the people do. The other problem related to the second type is you will not
find it talked about nor taught because those in positions of trust would rather you
continue to trust them than know the truth. Victims of human trafficking are those who
are weak psychologically, financially, or in other ways. Meeting the necessities in
someone's life that traffickers exploit in order to seduce them into being trafficked
would be necessary to stop someone from being a victim of that crime. As long as there
was a need to be met and money to be generated via the activity, laws have never
been able to stop illicit conduct. Therefore, it would be challenging to stop human
trafficking by just passing legislation. The greatest way to stop human trafficking is for
regular people to become involved through education and awareness.
In other cases, adoptive fraud involves kidnapping children. Couples looking to start a
family may choose to adopt a child in this way, particularly if they are unable to use the
formal routes. (Again, I'm not saying I agree with it.) It cuts out a lot of the "red tape"
associated with conducting adoptions properly. The first reason that comes to mind is
that, generally speaking, most people just don't care about other people—this goes for
anything, not just human trafficking. Most people do not want to get engaged in
matters of human trafficking or anything else that could include illegal conduct. I take it
that you mean sex slavery when you refer to human trafficking in relation to women.
This is possibly the most significant factor in why people see it as being filthy and desire
to avoid it. Even though they are aware that she is the victim, they wish to avoid the
woman because they perceive her as the offender. It dates back to ancient times, but
people with leprosy were shunned because they were deemed "unclean." This is due to
the fact that human trafficking breaches numerous human rights, the majority of which
are civil rights. The rights to freedom of movement, the right to life, liberty, and
security, and the right not to suffer torture or other cruel, inhumane, or humiliating
treatment or punishment are among the rights that are violated on numerous levels. A
fundamental value that underlies all human rights is human dignity, which is violated by
human trafficking. In some cases, those who traffic in people were once the victims of
crime who were exploited and had few other options. One common instance is that of
former child soldiers who, as adults, continue to serve in armed militia and coercively
recruit new members. Another instance is when young girls who have been trafficked
into prostitution go on to recruit other young girls in their neighborhood in exchange for
monetary payments that they may use to pay off their traffickers.
