RAINWATER HARVESTING:
RAINWATER TO BE USED FOR
TOILET WATER UTILIZATION

According to new research in the journal

Resources, Conservation and Recycling,
the average rainfall in four major U.S.
cities would be sufficient to meet
household water needs for flushing toilets
if storage tanks were large enough.

Given that toilet flushing accounts for almost one-

third of the potable water used in the United States
and the United Kingdom, this could have a significant
impact on household water use. Rainwater could
perform the same function as clean, treated water,
the researchers noted, so there is no need to use
clean water to flush a toilet.
