1. Summary

1.0 We had received 1 X 5-7/8” HS Model 60 Reamer String type SR # AC 44145

for repair of End connection along with the field inspection report # 220212.

1.1 Upon physical receiving inspection, we found out that the NC 38 Box
connection is having deep washout at the end of the bore back location. Refer
to below snap.

1.2 After further evaluation and measurement, we found out the existing Top
Neck length is not enough for repair of NC 38 Box because the allowable
length between bearing pin slot and bore back can’t be maintained as per Mod
60 Service Manual requirement. As per Mod 60 Service manual requirement,
(refer to section 2 of the report) minimum 3” length shall remain between
the bearing pin slot and connection bore back which means ideally the Bore
back should not reach under the bearing pin slot location as this will have
negative impact during operation can cause failure.

1.3 For this reamer, the required 3” length was not able to be maintained
because of deep wash out. If we repair the connection, then would need to
recut the Box connection to remove the washout but as a result the length
between the bearing pin slot and bore back will become less than 3” which will
not in conformance with the Mod 60 Service manual requirement, hence the
Reamer was not repaired and return without any repair.
