Climate: Lviv's climate is humid continental with cold winters and mild

regarded as the birth–place of Polish football. Lviv is the Polish
birthplace of other sports.
Lviv now has several major professional football clubs and some
smaller clubs. FC Karpaty Lviv, founded in 1963, plays in the first
division of the Ukrainian Premier League. Sometimes citizens of Lviv
assemble on the central street (Freedom Avenue) to watch and cheer
during outdoor broadcasts of games.
There are three major stadiums in Lviv.
One of them is the Ukraina Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium
used mostly for association football matches, and is the home
of FC Karpaty Lviv.
Arena Lviv is a brand-new football stadium that was an official
venue for Euro 2012 Championship games in Lviv.
SKA Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Lviv, Ukraine. It is
currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home
of FC Karpaty-2 Lviv and FC Lviv. The stadium holds 23,040
spectators.
Lviv's chess school enjoys a good reputation; such notable
grandmasters as Vassily Ivanchuk, Leonid Stein, Alexander
Beliavsky, Andrei Volokitin used to live in Lviv.
Lviv was originally bidding to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, but has
withdrawn and will now most likely bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
