from pewter); Thailand (silk fabrics and Loi Kratong Lantern Festival); Cambodia

Indonesia and Cambodia.

Fabric and Design


Thai attires’ design altered from every region where influences of varied religion count.
The designs are Simple linear cuts to fit their tunics typify their costume that was made from
Silk, cotton and rayon. In Indonesia, The kibaya & Batik shirt which are the top garments
served as the national costumes. Paired with kemben and sarong. Kebayas are designed with
intricate outlines of flowers, geometric shapes or animals depending on regional traditions
w/c determine the motif. The materials that were used are Silk thin – cotton semitransparent
nylon or polyester. In Cambodia, They wore tunics like their neighbors, but represented well
by Sampot - The royal ballet costume of woven fabric with threads of silver and gold. The
design was Simple linear cuts to fit their costumes, which projects grace and rhythm.

Let’s Understand
Architecture and Sculpture
The impact of Hinduism is shown in the carved wooden Hindu goddess, & a Golden
figurine of GANESH, the elephant God. They make use of floral and animal designs to follow
the theme established by the tenets of Buddhism, Hinduism & Islam. The materials that they
used were Brass, bronze, clay, wood, porcelain, silver, and gold. The Sukhotai Complex, the
memorial of old kingdom is one of Thailand’s cultural symbols. Most of the representation
that were used are large golden temples and stupas with projecting roof with tall towers
dominate Thailand’s landscape. In Indonesia, Golden Java dancer headdress is their famous
art and crafts and most of the designs was Headdress, armlets, anklets, bracelets, & necklace
are designed w/ Hindu motif. The slant – edge – design of roofs palaces expresses the heavy
influence of Islamic motif with a tint of Hindu outlines and this is famous cultural icon of the
said country. The style of this icon shows Curvilinear that intersects rectilinear lines and
planes on building structure. In Cambodia, The heavy influence of Hinduism design a brass
sculpture of Phoenix, the Hindu mythical creature of Life – death. Most of designs that we
can observed are Floral, curvilinear, linear and geometrical shape. The cultural icon shows
the saving of Angkor wat, the ancient Hindu temple that nearly came to its ruin, reveals the
