Review on The New Workplace Reality Amid Trying Times

Based on the article, working from home has become a norm in most companies since the
outbreak of Covid-19 and it needs to be continued even though there is no MCO anymore. In
the article stated that there is going to be a large number of generation Z entering the workforce
in 2030, which still can grow concern for the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, the article has
suggested some tips to encourage the employees to complete their tasks wherever they are,
especially for the remote workers. Firstly, is connecting with peers through video
communication, where it still gives the same benefits like talking face to face without being close
with each other. Next, there are some tools or apps that can be used to do collaborative work,
even for remote workers. For example, google docs, Canva and Teams. Beside that, spending
money on equipment to enhance the quality of webcams video and sound systems is essential
in making long distance communication simple and effective. The final point would be to create
and adhere to company-specific guidelines and rules, as miscommunication is the bane of
remote working, and when the rules are not clearly communicated, things can go different ways
and give bad impacts to the company itself.

In short, to make remote working as effective as physical work, company management needs to
provide support like training, tools, and limits in online working as employee’s welfare, especially
mental health, is important too.
