V Fir Vendeta (Coruption)
1. The movie is set in a future England ruled by a political party that embraces fascism.
Everything is controlled by the state, there are no civil liberties, even in the areas of opinion
and being different. It even includes embracing a religion other than the one 'sanctioned' by
the government, which is considered a crime. In one act, the story is told of how someone can
be arrested just because they have a Qur'an.In the midst of the oppression experienced by the
people, an anonymous hero with a Guy Fawkes-style mask emerges who believes in
anarchism as a way of liberation. In the midst of his efforts against the political party
apparatus and the government, Evey Hammond appears who is involved in the V movement.
Inspired by the true story of Guy Fawkes, V mobilizes thousands of people to wear Guy
Fawkes masks and destabilize the city on November 5 after a secret policeman kills a little
girl wearing the same mask. V also managed to take down the party leaders and destroy the
parliament building.
2. The main character in the movie V For Vendeta is a character named "V", he is a victim of
the malpractice of the authorities, and becomes a person who struggles to fight against the
authoritarian and violent British authorities through the "Anarchist" path.
3. The main conflict of the movie "V For Vendeta": That the fault of a country cannot simply be
blamed on the bureaucrats and politicians, because after all, the fascist rulers can be in power
because the public allows it (with various reasons, such as fear and indifference). On one
occasion, "V" told the public through a television station he had tapped into, that, "To find out
who is at fault for everything that is happening, you just need to look in the mirror."
4. Is there any part of the movie that you don't understand?
Not to the point of not understanding, but just a bit confused, because the storyline
goes back and forth, and it takes a while to think about it.
5. From the movie, are there any English terms/words that are new to you?
Yes, many.
6. What can we learn about local culture from the movie "V For Vendeta"?
The "V" is just a symbol of an ideology. He can be damaged, but someone else can replace
him because his ideology will live on. Even at the end of the movie when Evey gets the
chance to see the real face of "V", she turns it down. The movie emphasizes once again that
"V" is just a symbol of an ideology that we should remember.
This is a great action movie that makes us think critically. To think about the meaning of
freedom in the nation and how important it is to be grateful for. Think about the meaning of
freedom itself. Think about how to differentiate between terrorism and revolution.
7. From the movie, is there any connection to corruption?
Yes, the characters in this movie are fictional, but the symbolism is really there in the real
world around us. The character of Adam Suttler, a ruler who maintains his power by any
means, even cruel means."V" blew up the parliament building (DPR building) because he felt
that the goddess of justice never existed there. The statue of the goddess of justice there was a
false goddess or symbol. He felt that justice never came to him. When a dictatorial ruler rules
the country, justice is aligned with the interests of the ruler.
8. Did you enjoy watching the movie? What made you like/dislike the movie.
Yes, I like it, because from this movie I can learn new vocabulary and be forced to think
critically.
