Pare’s Lechon is a staple of Ormocanon cuisine, being one of the go-to

establishments for mouth-watering lechon. Pare’s Lechon’s popularity is showcased

by the fact it has 3 branches in Ormoc, one on Rizal Street, another within the Aviles

Business Center, and a brand new one in Doña Feliza Z. Mejia subdivision near the

Origami Convention Center. It will be the brand new branch, Pare’s Lechon Seafood

and Grill, that will be reviewed to see whether their cookery really lives up to the

hype and legacy of Pare’s Lechon.

Upon entering the restaurant, you are immediately greeted by a spacious

dining area with large windows allowing ample natural light, creating an overall

comfortable atmosphere perfect for a relaxing meal. From first impressions, their

service was top-notch since immediately after entering, our group was greeted by a

host and we were seated at a table mere seconds after. We were given their longest

table, right in the center of it all which allowed us to better appreciate the chic,

modern decor.
It took us some time to decide on which dishes to order since there were so

many tantalizing options on the menu. After a few embarassing minutes of having to

make our server wait, we ultimately decided on 5 dishes we wanted to try. These

dishes were: Calamares (Calamari) , lechon sisig with egg, beef with mushroom,

spicy chicken wings, and pancit bihon. We wanted to try their famous lechon but

unfortunately due to its popularity, they had already run out. The dishes were quite

affordable especially for the portion sizes, each of them being priced under 400 Pesos.

The star of the show was the lechon sisig. It was the cheapest dish at only 155

Pesos but was unanimously decided among us that it was the best dish. It had a sweet,

tangy taste which paired perfectly with the egg. Surprisingly, it was not too fatty or

oily. It was well worth the price especially when you consider the generous portion

size.
The spicy chicken was decent, it had good flavor. It was a bit sweet with a

little kick of spice. The dish was clearly freshly cooked yet was served promptly. It

had good texture and it really helped that the sauce complemented the chicken. We

enjoyed eating the spicy chicken, especially as it was very affordable at only 220

Pesos.

The next dish was the beef with mushroom. It had a unique taste and the flavor

profile of the dish was very well balanced. The beef wasn’t the most tender yet still

had good mouth-feel. The sauce was delicious because of the mushroom which really

gave flavor and meatiness to the sauce. This dish was the most expensive at 320

Pesos.
