Background
Applications of pervasive computing devices have grown tremendously in our day-to-day
life. The pandemic COVID-19 has swamped the entire global, disrupting the life and
economy across the world.
In this context, sensor-based COVID-19 analysis is made inevitable despite all clinical
trials. In the proposed work, for both symptomatic and asymptotic patients, the
information would be collected using sensors followed by data transformation for
efficient access. AI algorithms are integrated with mathematical computation for better
classification and prediction.
Methods and materials
When I reviewed this article I found the following methods have their own advantage and
effectiveness for the study. data acquisition
It is a phase where data would be collected using different sensors, like Hotspot
non-contact infrared thermometer: ensures accurate and stable body temperature.
Hikvision’s thermographic: is temperature screening cameras used to detect
Coronavirus temperature. Acoustic sensors: which monitor lung sounds
a. Data imputation
It is good to perform data analysis and data pre-processed by the PCA model and Mode
and Mean Missing data (MMM-DI) method for removing outliers and filling missing
data, respectively. AI detector is also embedded with the sensor device to prevent false
alarms and reduce noise. Suspected-Infected-Recovered classification
SIR model introduced by Kermack and McKendrick comprising three status of COVID-
19 cases such as suspected, infected and recovery cases
b. AI prediction: once we classified the patients into three (suspected, infected
recovered) categories, Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) model exploited for
predicting the COVID-19 cases effectively
Novelty
COVID 19 data would be collected using three sensors Hotspot non-contact infrared
thermometer, Hikvision’s thermographic temperature and acoustic sensors rate. After
pre-processing, 300 instances are taken for experimental results considering the
demographic features: Sex, Patient Age, Temperature, Finding and Clinical Trials.
Classification is performed using SIR model and finally predicted 188 confirmed cases
using RNN with LSTM model
Finding
I will discuss the results that author obtained in this article as below.
Machine learning models are vitals in predicting diseases. On top of the contribution of
sensors and smart devices, Artificial Intelligence detector is deployed to reduce false
alarms. A mathematical model Suspected, Infected, Recovered (SIR)is integrated with
machine learning techniques for advanced prediction classification. Implementation of
RNN with Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) model results better prediction holding
the previous history.
Benefits
The main benefit of this article is to give adequate, timely and clear information about
the patients with best prediction of patient disease. So the direct user of this article
results are patients and Doctor.
Conclusion
When I conclude this article, COVID-19 data has been collected using different types
of sensors then collected data would be pre-processed using PCA model and MMM-DI
method for removing outliers and filling missing data, respectively. AI detector is also
embedded with the sensor device to prevent false alarms and reduce noise. SIR model
will classify as suspected, infected and recovered. The data is then fed into a RNN with
LSTM model to predict the COVID-19 cases with the previous history stored in the
hidden layer.
