-A genetic screening method


-it is done by taking sample cells from the mothers placenta
-They are then cultured to get enough number of cells to produce a karyotype
-Karyotype then can be used to diagnose genetic disorders

-When can you do it: 8 weeks


-time taken: karyotype test can immediatly strt

risk of miscarriage
infection
inadequate sample

Amniocentesis
-a geentic screening method
-it is doen by taking amniotic fluid are the fetus using a needle
-sample is cultured
-karyotype test carried out to diagnose gentic disorders

-when can you do it: 15-18 weeks


-timet taken to get the rseults: 2weeks

cramping

this causes lung infections and problems with digesting food
