Experimental semi-variogram calculated on one "borehole"

through a hypothetical lead/zinc ore-body.

c) Draw the experimental semi-variogram against lag distances

d) Comment on the experimental figure
e) What is the best model which can fit the experimental serni-variogram

 The semi-variogram seems to follow approximately the ideal shape

of spherical model.
 It rises from the origin, seems to more or less level off at about 15
m, and continues with some variation around the value, say, of 10.5
(%)2.
 We could probably fit a spherical model to this serm-vanograrn
without further ado.

Experimental semi-variograms constructed on various lengths of core -

Lead/Zinc example

 The 3.04 m semi-variogram is always lower than the 1.52 m, and the
4.56 m one is considerably lower than both
3)
Steps of the solution:
Use equation to estimate Co
Cl = (Co/20) (20 – 10l/a+l3/a3) for l < a
- Estimate a = a1 – l
Use original equation of spherical model to construct point sample model
h> a

h ≥a

- Use table 6.3 to construct semi-variogram at each core length

For core length = 2 m
Cl = 11.6 % and h/l = 7.75
From table (6.3) construct the following table.
