CLIMATIC DATA TABLE

• Annual range of temp: Maximum temp - minimum temp.


• Mean annual temp: add all given temp and divide by 12
• Mean annual range of temperature: maximum temp + minimum temp and divided by 2
• Hottest month: the month with the highest temperature
• Coldest month: the month with the lowest temperature
• Wettest month: rainiest month
• Driest month: month with the least rainfall
• Coastal location / maritime type of climate/ oceanic climate/ moderate climate:
The station will have a low range of temperature

• Extreme type of climate: The station will have a high range of temperatures.

• Windward side: if the station is located on the windward side then it will
experience heavy rainfall during the months of June – September

• Annual rainfall / Total rainfall: Add all given rainfall. [Sometimes the total
rainfall may be asked for a particular season then you have to add the rainfall
only for that season]. For example Monsoon season – add all given rainfall from
June to Sept.
• Coastal location:

i. SE coast/ Tamil Nadu coast/ Chennai: It will have a low range of


temperature and experiences a good amount of rainfall [winter
rainfall]during the months of Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, and Feb. The source of
rain is NE Monsoon

ii. Western coast: It will have a low range of temperature but does not
experience winter rainfall. Rainfall is high during the months of June,
July, Aug, and Sept. The source of rain is the SW monsoon.

• If the station is located in the Northwestern part of India [up, Punjab, Haryana]
It will have a high range of temperatures and experience winter rainfall. The
source of rain is Western disturbances.
