    Deontology states that killing an intruder to protect one's family is morally wrong, even if protecting the family is right, as an act that is morally wrong cannot lead to something good. While lying is generally wrong, consequentialism holds that telling a lie could be right if it saves a person's life based on the results. True goodness comes from being a good person and deciding what is right based on whether the outcome is good or beneficial, not just the results.     something good, such as shooting the intruder (killing is wrong) to protect your family
    (protecting them is right).
    For instance, most people would agree that lying is wrong. But if telling a lie would help save a
    person's life, consequentialism says it's the right thing to do.
