Heinz Dilemma

1. Is it actually right or wrong for him to steal the drug? Why is it right or wrong?

In my opinion, what Heinz did was right since his wife is dying, he should do his

best to give his wife the treatment she should have. Although, Heinz might be put in jail,

but still, what he did would make him happy and will not make him regret what he did.

The law also might favor what Heinz did because the druggist fine him more than the

actual price creation of that drug.

2. Does Heinz have the duty or obligation to steal the drug? Why or why not?

For me, the weight of the situation should not be put on Heinz hands and should

be put on the druggist hands since it is his obligation to give fair amount of price for that

drug. Heinz only did the possible way to save ones’ life and it is the reasonable act to

risk something just to save ones’ life because saving a human life is a more fundamental

value than the property rights of another person.

3. If Heinz doesn’t love his wife, should he steal the drug for her? Does it make a difference

in what Heinz should do whether or not he loves his wife? Why or why not?

I think, Heinz might not steal the drug if his wife is a completely stranger and

doesn’t know the situation that is happening. But if some instance that Heinz knows the

situation, I think Heinz should still the drug since it is morally right to save someone’s life

and personal belongings do not trump the right to save a life.

4. Is it important for people to do everything they can to save another's life? Why or why

not?

Honestly, saving another’s life is important than doing nothing about it. We

should also consider the capability of ones’ person in saving another’s life because we

all know that some of us are us are not capable of doing it and it would be unfair if we

ask them to do it. But with regards to this situation of Heinz, it is morally right that he did

everything he can to save his wife’s life. The situation also applies for all of us, that one

would have to be completely self-sacrificing enough to be save because it is impossible

for us to save every person that is on the brink of death if we are not capable of doing it.

5. In general, should people try to do everything they can to obey the law? Why or

why not?

We should generally obey the law since it is the one that makes the

society function and without laws civilization wouldn’t exists. However, if the

situation wants us to disregard the law in order to save life of another, we should

do the righteous way to do it since it is also our responsibility to save someone’s’

life and doing nothing about it will hunt our conscience down. So, basically, law

should be obeyed since the law is the law and it ought to be obeyed except in

circumstances where the law permits disobedience.

Jose’s Dilemma

1. Is it actually right or wrong to kill a bad person? Why is it right or wrong?

For me, killing bad person is wrong as it is taught to us that 'Thou shalt not

kill’, however, it can be overcome depending on the situation that needs

immediate action for the purpose of greater good, meaning, in a situation where

our life or other people’s life is at stake due to a person that will surely harm us

that could lead to death and permanent serious injury. Killing is a heinous crime

that deserves punishment that is why it is wrongfully to kill a bad/good person,

however, considering the fact that there will be instances where our life or life of

other’s will be put to danger and necessary actions should be taken, killing that

person that will intentionally harm us or other people is necessarily right.

2. Does Jose have a duty or obligation reveal the plans to his superior? Why or why

not?

If I were Jose, I will reveal the plans of Ka David to the superiors in order

to lessen the involvement of death and injuries to innocent lives around the

municipal hall if ever Ka David’s plans work, since we know that human cannot

really control what might happen in the future, the possibilities of shoot out

between Ka David and Mayor’s recruited personnel might happen.

3. If Jose is not involved in military, should he squeal the plan to the authority?

Does it make a difference in what Jose should do whether or not he his affiliated

to military? Why or why not?

Whether Jose is involved or not involved in the military, he should

definitely squeal the plans of Ka David in order to stop the future problems that

may rise if Ka David executed his plans, because as I have said in the 2 nd

question, many innocent people in the area of municipal hall can get involved by

the actions of Ka David causing death and injuries.

4. Should we always uphold the truth, and the law?

For me, upholding the truth, and the law lessens the problem a society

could make. It makes people point out mistakes, and that mistakes can make us

grow into a better person, well also for the society itself, truthfulness makes

social bonds, and lying and hypocrisy break them. However, at some instances,

there are scenarios that we should consider the mental state of a person,

delaying the truth in order not to break a person’s mind is necessary since, telling

that person directly the truth might make him/her think their worth as a person.

5. In general, should people try do everything they can obey the law? Why or why

not?

For me, people should try to do everything they can to obey the law

because that is why law is made, for us to follow lessening the social conflicts

and problems causing the people. This can make a society a better place. Since
laws are deeply studied, it is best for us to follow it because usually it implies the

greatest good for the greatest number of people.
