Let’s begin!
Activity 3: Tell me about you
Instructions: Fill in each box with at least 5 different answers that best describe about your “self.”
For completing this activity, you will get 10 points in your merit card.
Physical characteristics Personality traits
(Ex. “I am tall”; “I am chubby”) (Ex. “I am shy”; “I am respectful”)
I am tall. I am thin. I have a dark skin tone. I I am cheerful. I am talkative. I am a bit lazy. I am
have black eyes. I have black hair. sometimes a bit gloomy. I am a bit funny.
Process Questions:
1. How did you get to have the self you have?
-I got to where my current “self” is today through my interaction with other people, and through
different challenges and experiences I’ve encountered.
2. If you have taken this activity three or five years ago, do you think you would have written similar
descriptions of your “self”? Why or why not? How about five or ten years from now? Why or why
not?
-Some of the descriptions of my “self” wouldn’t have change like the general description but most
likely, most of my answers would’ve been a bit different if I answered this in a different time and a
different of my life.
Lesson 2 : Psychological View of the Self
1. Insert/paste a photo of your real self and ideal self. Provide a brief description on the boxes
provided below your photo. For this activity, you will get 5 points for each question answered
correctly.
2. Describe an experience where you encounter a conflict between the id and the superego. What
was the decision of your ego?
-When I was invited to a debut of my best friend, but I had a lot of school work to do to be submitted
the day after the next day. I wanted to go because I wanted to drink with my friends and enjoy the
celebration of her birthday, but then again, if I don’t start doing it on that day, it could result to a
failing grade. In the end, I decided to finish as much as school work that day and just continue the
unfinished work the next day, so I didn’t drink that much but it was a small price to pay so that I
could attend the party without actually sacrificing my grade.
3. Adolescence is the period where you discover your own identity. A teenager who successfully
discover his/her identity will be able to answer the question, "Who am I?" with certainty. Identify at
least three (3) persons whom you consider as role models? Why?
-Elon Musk, Ishigami Senku, Thomas Edison. I consider them as my role models because they
taught me the things I needed to learn, to be persistent. I learned that persistency is the key, that
diligence and never giving up will lead you to breakthrough whatever you’re facing today, that hard
work makes the dream work. Just like when Elon Musk, Senku and Thomas Edison faced many
failures in their lives, they never gave up and finally made a breakthrough because of their
persistent nature. Just as Thomas Edison quoted, “Genius is one percent inspiration, and ninety-
nine percent perspiration”.
SUMMARIZE
Summarize the most important points you have learned in this
lesson in one paragraph.
-The mentioned philosophers in the lesson provided a lot of
different views of the self. The following are the most notable
view for it provided a more relatable and agreeable concepts
and explanations. Jung’s archetypal analysis/myth criticism for
me was on-point about the four archetypes of the self; the
Persona, the Anima/Animus, the Shadow, and the Self. Freud’s
Id, Ego, and Superego had also the same concept of Plato’s
tripartite nature of the soul. But the most important thing I’ve
learned all throughout this lesson is that our self isn’t really how
we simple we expect it to be, it is more complicated as it is
affected by a lot of factors, externally and internally.
RECALL
Recall meaningful points (useful or valuable things) from the
lesson you learned.
-That we often hide most of our self behind our Persona(mask) in
order for us to preserve our relationship with others and to
conform to society.
QUESTION
Formulate questions. (What are the most confusing points, and
why they were confusing?)
-Is our angry self the one who embodies self-love? The
state of being angry because you know you deserve better
in life. Or is it mere selfishness? Because it was stated in
the lesson that selfishness doesn’t mean self-love.
CONNECT
Connect idea(s) you can add and should put into practice
immediately.
-We shouldn’t always try to hide our id/shadow/appetite. It is
also essential in our lives because it helps us in our biological
needs such as hunger. But, it is also important to keep this part
of our “self” in check.
