Ikigai book is based on Japanese concept which simply means the art of living or the reason
to being. This book is talking about the lifestyle of Japanese people who lived more than 100
years with a happy live long life till their death. This book is all about finding yourself where
you are and what are you doing, are you satisfied by yourself or not, happy or not, are you
only lived your life or you actually enjoyed it.
When I undergo the book I found everyone has an Ikigai. And those who discovered their
Ikigai have everything they have for an extended and joyful journey through life. It reveals
the secrets of staying young and anti-aging. The book causes you to think how small changes
in your life made an outsized difference in life.
I just completed the book Ikigai. Reading a book was a positive experience.

The book Ikigai is the combination of Passion, Mission, Profession and vocation.

I will list down some points which were highlights of the book on behalf of me .
In this book author went to a Japenese village, name Okinawa where there are 24.55 people
over the age of 100 for every 100,000 inhabitants. If you didn’t find your hidden ikigai then
patiently attempt to search. Never retire yourself keep doing what you live for as long,
The author talks about five blue zones where people live longer that average and secret of
their long life.
• Hara hachi bu - Japanese proverb which suggests fill your belly only 80 percent.
• Moai - form close bonds with your family, friends and community and help out each
other in time of distress.
• This book talks about the anti-aging secrets that a little stress is good for us. Too
much stress never good give longer live.
• In this book author also talks about logotherapy that help to find the reason to live ,in
this some case study are also explained.
• Morita Therapy - “If we've obsessive thoughts, we should always not attempt to
control them or get obviate them. If we do, they become more intense.”
• Accept our desires, anxieties, fear, and worries and let them go.
• It also focus on the flow that how we find a flow in everything to do work. Too
achieving flow there are seven condition. It also talks about microflow into something
we enjoy is key to our being happy. Even Bill also washes dishes every night and
feels happy.
• The author also take some of the views on flow like Misao Okawa who say that –
“ Eat and sleep, and you will live longer. You have to learn relax”.
• Avoid multitasking - Studies indicate it lowers our productivity by 60 % and IQ by
more then ten points. Most importantly it is impediment to achieve flow and increases
our chances of making mistakes.
• This book also talks about the some religion like Buddhism which teels aboutb how
we can give all the wordly pleasure and still be clam and happy.
• Apart from thois how all of these healthy people live together, celebrate little things ,
dance together, sing together, grow vegetable in their own garden,look them and eat
them.
• Meditation is one way to exercise our mental muscles and their objective is calming
the mind, observing our thought and emotions centering our focus on a single object.
• Walk for al least 20 minutes each day. This is good for your posture, your muscles,
and your systema respiratorium, among other things
• If you retain your mind and body busy you'll be around an extended time. (we are all
going to die. Some people are sacred of dying. Never be afraid to die. Because you
are born to die).

• In this book it also mention the drinks name sanpin-cha : a mix of green tea and
jasmine flower. They do not consume sugar and also consume less salt.
• Drink green tea, eat tofu, carrot, leafy vegetables, legumes, sweet potatoes and cane
sugar.
• In Japan , people have routine , which they follow in regular basis Like Radio
Taiso,Tai chi, Qigong and Shiatsu.
• In this also mention about Yog like Jnana yoga, Karma yoga: Bhakti yoga, Mantra
yoga, Kundalini yoga,Raja yoga,Hatha yoga
• Be antifragile instead of resilient - As resilient just resists the shock and stays the
same

This book give us lot of easy and healthy idea which people do not know.In this book 10
rules of ikigai are: -
Stay active; don’t retire.
2. Take it slow.
3. Don’t fill your stomach.
4. Surround yourself with good friends.
5. Get in shape for your next birthday.
6. Smile.
7. Reconnect with nature.
8. Give thanks.
9. Live in the moment.
10. Follow your ikigai.
