They may also be written as two or more words or asa hyphenated word. One Word | bodyguard, footprint, ewspap' Two or More Words | high school, Kalahari Desert, League of Nations Hyphenated Word | great-grandmother, left-hander NOTE Ifyou are not sure how to write a compound noun, look it up in a dictionary. Some dictionaries may give two correct forms for a word. For example, you may find the word vice-president written both with and without the hyphen As arule, use the form your dictionary lists fist. Identifying Common, Proper, and Compound Nouns In the paragraph below, underline the common nouns once and the proper nouns twice. Circ! the compound nouns.
