A RICH MAN AND A POOR MAN IN THE

CEMETERY
*In the cemetery
Sabrina: Hi ma’am! Would you like to buy a candle?
Bianca: only if you stay with me for a while…
Sabrina: sorry ma’am, but I can’t do that. I still need to sell all of these.
Bianca: don’t worry, I will pay for everything. I just need someone to talk to.
Sabrina: oh sure! You can call me Sab.
Bianca: My name is Bianca, and please stop calling me ma’am.
Sabrina: okay… is he your father? (looking at the gravestone)
Bianca: y-yeah… he died few months ago. The saying is really true, isn’t it?
Sabrina: what saying?
Bianca: “Wealth can’t buy health”… Even though my father’s a billionaire, we still couldn’t stop
him from having a pancreatic cancer. Ever since father died my relatives were all suddenly nice
at me because I now own the company and all of my father’s assets.
Sabrina: is it nice… being rich?
Bianca: it’s hard being rich
Sabrina: Tss! You’re just like them aren’t you?
Bianca: what are you talking about?
Sabrina: Rich people like you are so ungrateful! Why can’t you just be thankful to eat thrice a
day? To be able to sleep in a soft cushioned bed and not in the streets? If it is so hard to be rich
then try being poor!
Bianca: excuse me? I don’t care if you’re going through something but why do poor people kept
on assuming that being rich is easy? Why do you always think that we are ungrateful and lazy?
It’s not like we made people like you, poor!
Sabrina: Why? Am I wrong? All you do is complain! Even though you can get everything you
want yet you still find reasons to be sad!
Bianca: wow… just wow… Money isn’t everything. I may be rich but that doesn’t mean that I
am happy. I may be rich but that doesn’t mean that I should not feel pain or sadness. I get it you
are poor and I am privileged but never once I thought that you’d think of me that way.. I thought
finally, someone would listen to me for once without any judgements but I was wrong.
Sabrina: s-sorry… I’m sorry Bianca, My emotions fueled me because I already had a lot on my
plate. I’m really sorry…
Bianca: I never once had someone lending their shoulders for me, when they did they always
wait for something in return.
Sabrina: My mother died too… and you are right, It should be me who is to blame, not the
wealthy. if only I had money, my mother could undergo surgery and still be alive.
Bianca: what? I’m sorry to hear that.. but next time you talk to someone, lend you ears and let
them finish. Only then, you’d understand what they’re going through.
Sabrina: I just got blinded because of hatred but now I realized that even wealthy people suffers
too, the only difference between us is that.. The rich suffers comfortably while the poor suffers
uncomfortably.
Bianca: See? This is how a conversation should work. Despite of our social status, differences,
the way we live. We are all not the same, you know? But there is something we can share in
common and that is compassion.
