After reading and understanding, do you believe that it is necessary for

every Filipino to embrace science education? Why or why not? Will it be relevant
or not to our daily lives? Discuss your answer in not more than two paragraphs.

> “Science education aims to increase people’s understanding of science and construction of
knowledge to promote scientific literacy and responsible citizenship”
(Jonna Timonen, June 25, 2020). With the said statement by Jonna Timonen, I can agree that
science education is merely what we see as a subject that studies different planets and stars, at
the same time it also tackles research, engineering, scientific breakthroughs, and etc. I believe
that Filipinos should embrace science education, not because it is required, but because it is a
major aspect of our society that can lift our country to a better status. As we all know, science
education can be a salvation for our healthcare system, poverty, and education. It is also useful
for the upbringing of our technology and industrial regime, which from a different perspective,
can be an asset for the development of such rural areas.

It can be involved with their future careers, and life in general. Every action is connected with
our scientific literacy, which means the more we embrace knowledge, the better choices we can
make. There’s a saying that “knowledge is a tool that we can use” quoted by Dan Brown. I agree
with this, because once we mastered this tool, it can impact the user to such levels that is far
greater than today. That is why it is necessary for our future generations to embrace science
education.

As a globally competitive student of CvSU, what can you contribute to improve

Science and Technology? How can you use Science and Technology to come up
with a better society?

> As a first year student in CvSU, I am merely just a student limited by my actions, I can say that
I can contribute by advocating the importance of science and technology throughout our country.
With this, it can impact other people’s interest, providing information, and explaining to them
that science and technology has a bright future ahead. A great example of this is our robotics.
Not a lot of people know the importance of robotics, not because they are ignorant or
closeminded, but because some are just not educated enough. With advocacy, it can be shared
with great impact to students.

In relation to the course I’ve chosen, agriculture is a necessary aspect in our society, especially
nowadays, our country is going through a crisis in our agricultural regime. I believe that with the
right tools and knowledge, we can have far greater farming equipment than today, that can
acquire crops easily, therefore having a cheaper acquisition and uplifting our depletion of said
crops. Leaving our farmers with plenty of money to improve their livelihood and their farm and
livestock. This can improve the society’s trade and demand in our food production.
