Aim: To determine the resistance of a galvanometer by half-dellection method & to find its figure of mesit. Apparatus: A Weston type galvanometer, a voltmeter, a battery, a rheostai two resistance boxes (10,0000 and 500 2), two one-way keys, ascrew gauge, a meter scale, connecting wires anda piece of sandpaper. Otherwise for small resistance, an excessive current will flow through the galvanometer or ammeter & damage them. Sources of error: (j) Plug of the resistant boxes may not be clean. (Gi) The screws of the instruments maybe loose. (ii) The emt of the battery may not be constant.
