25 DAYS

OF CHRISTMAS JOKES
You don’t need a fancy Christmas Countdown Calendar to get the
kids excited! Make your own and have fun together.

INSTRUCTIONS SUPPLIES
STEP 1: Print out our joke template pages. Joke templates
Print on regular paper and color them, or print Colored paper
Markers
directly on colored paper. Scissors
STEP 2: Cut out the strips and glue the ends Tape or
glue stick
together to form links for your chain.
STEP 3: Kids can draw a joke a day, or can make the entire chain
first and then remove one joke per day for 25 days.

ADVENT CALENDARS
The first practice of advent calendars were from the 1800's in
Germany. The Germans made chalk marks on doors or lit candles
to count the days leading up to Christmas.

Advent is the time frame starting on the Sunday closest to the


feast day of St. Andrew the Apostle through the following three
Sundays until the anniversary of Christ’s birth on December 25.

Gerhard Lang modified his mother’s Advent calendars adding little


doors with chocolates inside, and they became a commercial
success in Germany in the 1900’s.
