Summary

As the Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer for our Utilimaster division in Kansas City, MO, you will play a critical
role in driving the manufacturing process optimization at the plant. You will also be accountable for planning and
designing manufacturing plant floor layouts to appropriately locate and coordinate equipment and material for efficient
production.

In addition, your role as Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will be 50% allocated to our Upfit equipment program
and 50% allocated to KC Upfit process development and improvement.

You will also be involved with developing processes, procedures, and costing information and will also be tasked with
developing standards and on the equipment side. This will involve developing standard installations, evaluating our
competitors' components vs. our designs including the integral parts of our manufacturing equipment.

What You’ll Be Doing

 Developing and maintaining systems to drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, safety, lead time
and use of working capital
 Evaluating tools and equipment process options in effort to reduce operational costs
 Driving the approval for machinery and equipment investments aimed to improve manufacturing and assembly
operations
 Producing engineering drawings for design fixturing and tooling
 Implementing lean manufacturing strategies such as lean visual control and inventory pull systems to enhance
workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives
 Providing technical support to manufacturing production operations in the areas of tooling, fixturing, and process
troubleshooting
 Investigating new technologies, methods, and processes to improve existing manufacturing operations
 Monitoring and correcting safety and ergonomic issues and managing the process engineering budget
 Collaborating with the CI team with develop and organize lean events
 Guiding Utilimaster's New Product Introduction process and driving continuous improvement and waste
elimination in all manufacturing facilities
 Aiding in workstation load balancing for all manufacturing areas
 Verifying, reviewing, and implementing torque specifications and high-risk part specifications
 Tracking welder certifications and make necessary adjustments based on requirements
 Investigating problems, determining root cause, and implementing corrective and preventative actions
 Working closely with quality, engineering, production, materials, and purchasing teams to resolve issues
 Staying abreast of new developments within the manufacturing process field and relaying to colleagues
 Participating in educational programs, attending workshops, and participating in conferences
 Preparing time studies and assisting with project planning and project management

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related discipline


 5 or more years of manufacturing process optimization experience, or equivalent combination of education and
manufacturing process engineering experience
 Experience working in a low volume and high variation manufacturing operation
 Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Project, and
PowerPoint)
 Expertise in Computer aided design systems, preferably SolidWorks and AutoCAD
