“Spirituality is not to be learned by flight from the world, or by running away from things, or
by turning solitary and going apart from the world. Rather, we must learn an inner solitude
wherever or with whomsoever we may be. We must learn to penetrate things and find God
there.”
― Meister Eckhart

The above quote from Meister Eckhart struck me deeply because as a Religious Sister who
belonged to an active religious congregation, it dawned on my mind to transfer to a
contemplative congregation in order to give more time in prayer and encounter God in an
intimate way in silence. Perhaps, this quote from Eckhart is God’s message for me to remain
where I am now and learn to cultivate inner solitude wherever or whomsoever I may be and I
must learn to penetrate things and find God there. I must learn to acknowledge God’s presence
in everything. That my encounter with Him becomes possible only by becoming one with all
creation. I am blessed to be able to know this message from Meister Eckhart. Indeed, God is
communicating with me in mysterious ways. I only need to be receptive and open to letting God
works in my life. Thank you, God, because now I learned that spirituality is not about running
away from this noisy world, instead it is about finding you in the silence of my heart, even in
midst of this chaotic world. I have to commit to doing the prayer from Julian of Norwich;
AWAIT, ALLOW, ACCEPT AND ATTEND, in order to truly encounter God.
