Prof. Miroslaw J. Skibniewski will give a speech on December 15th about additive manufacturing and 3D printing in construction. 3D printing is revolutionizing manufacturing but its adoption in construction has been slower. New solutions using cementitious materials have started to enter construction supply chains. The speech will review trends in 3D printing for construction and discuss research on applicability and adaptability of technical solutions. It will also introduce an effort to map experts in construction 3D printing worldwide.

Additive manufacturing/ 3-D printing in construction: search for new
supply chains of products and services for the construction industry
3-D printing is quickly revolutionizing production technology in the
manufacturing industry, involving metals, plastics, resins, clays, composites and other materials. Breakthroughs are being achieved also in biomedical engineering, including printing of soft tissues and other biological materials. The uptake of 3-D printing in construction has been relatively slower, but new solutions involving cementitious materials and other compounds have been making modest inroads into the supply chains of construction products. This presentation will review the latest trends related to this technology in the construction industry. Also, current research on the applicability and adaptability of various technical solutions will be discussed. An ongoing effort to design and maintain a capability map of experts in construction 3-D printing worldwide will be introduced.
Introduction of Prof. Miroslaw J. Skibniewski
