Master Thesis Terminal Lay-

out Floating Wind
RWE Renewables GmbH in Hamburg is offering a Master Thesis student position to analyse different
options for staging ports and load-out terminals for floating offshore wind turbines, their foundations and
mooring systems for commercial size floating offshore wind farms.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a professional team and to contribute in a meaning-
ful and tangible way to the decarbonization of power generation globally.

Context:
RWE Renewables is working heavily to develop floating offshore wind projects at commercial scale. To
install a large number of floating wind turbine generators in an efficient manner, efficient port infrastruc-
ture is required. Due to the increasing size of wind turbine generators that will be used for commercial
floating wind, large terminals and smart logistics concepts are required.
Task:
Building on installation concepts RWE has already developed, you develop, optimize and compare dif-
ferent terminal layout concepts and locations for a real world project in terms of port logistics, WTG
staging and storage from a technical and commercial perspective.

The analysis needs to be technical in terms of space and facilities required and also economical and
commercial.
The concepts may be enhanced by using different ports for different packages of the project depending
on terminal space available.
