The main idea of the video is discuss how communication can be more efficient. It was
clear the linguist understood the importance of getting close to the aliens to understand
their language.

Although there is no consensus about this subject, I believe the language you speak
influences how you think, because it determines somehow the way you see the things.
Each language has its features and its own expressions, and this can contribute to
different interpretations to the same situation. For example, languages with more color
definitions determine if the speakers see or don´t see certain shapes. It is already
known bilingual people have many advantages, like better job prospects, improvement
in cognition and even protection against dementia.

In that regard, our cognition can be influenced by the language we use and, therefore,
foreign people may have different point of view for the same thing simply because they
use different words for it.
