GAINING KNOWLEDGE TO A NEW LANGUAGE

Attention Step:

Bonjour, Annyeonghaseyo, Konnichiwa! You might all be astonished to learn that these words all
translate to "good morning" or "hello" in English, but they do. The phrase by Roger Bacon, "Knowledge
of languages is the doorway to wisdom," is one of my favorites because it solidifies four ideas that I
consider to be fundamental to life: knowledge, languages, doors, and wisdom, all of which are
interconnected in one quote. According to politician and former president of South Africa Nelson
Mandela, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in
his own language, that goes to his heart.” It is said in Nelson Mandela's autobiography, "Long Walk to
Freedom," that without language, one cannot communicate with and comprehend others, share goals
and aspirations, understand their history, appreciate their poetry, or enjoy their music. We are one
people, even though we speak many languages. We are not two distinct races.

Is it simple to learn a new language? How challenging can it be? Is a week enough to learn a new
language? It can be done by anyone, right?

What makes me qualified to give a speech about learning a new language I am a student who struggled
with learning a foreign language while attending class, but I got up again and set a goal for myself to
learn at least one.

Some of us, like myself, find it challenging to pick up a new language when we ourselves haven't been
successful in mastering our native speech.

Learning a foreign language provides a variety of advantages, from enhancing your analytical and
learning skills to aid you in obtaining and succeeding in future employment.

One of the best choices you can make for your future, whether you choose to study Spanish, French,
Korean, or Japanese, is to enroll in a language course or to learn on your own by watching videos on
YouTube or other websites.

Need Step:

What should you say or do when someone speaks to you in a language you don't understand? given that
the employee only speaks one language? How do you talk to friends or coworkers who are of a different
race or speak a different language? When visiting a certain nation, why don't you try to learn a little of
the local language?

People who can only speak one language struggle throughout life.

Without a question, everyone enjoys traveling and exploring new places. According to U.S. NEWS,
European nations that speak French, Spanish, or English include Paris, Barcelona, and London as the top
three holiday spots in 2012. All three of these locations are ranked as the finest places to go in 2012.
When you are unable to speak with them, what are you going to do if you want to eat, visit a
destination, or simply buying a souvenir?

Do you also know anything about Alzheimer's disease? Maybe not, or uncertain. Let me elaborate.
According to the Longman Dictionary, Alzheimer's is a condition that affects the brain, particularly in
older people, and gradually impairs one's ability to walk, speak, or remember. And, it's true, knowing
multiple languages can prevent against Alzheimer's. Furthermore, bilingual seniors have a greater
capacity for shifting attention, a skill that frequently declines with advancing age, according to a 2013
study by Nancy Shute.

The reasons why people fail to learn foreign languages.

First, people claim that it is not a major issue because translator services and apps are available. Yes,
everyone can use translators and translation applications, but how can you use a translator to create an
appropriate, meaningful sentence with the proper pronunciation?

The time commitment in an already hectic week is another popular reason for giving up on language
learning.

Another reason for this issue is that many people do not have enough money to spend on studying a
foreign language since they have families to support. Some people are also reluctant to leave their
homes even for a short time to study a foreign language.

Simply said, it's difficult since it demands your time management skills as well as your intellect, which
must create new cognitive frameworks (it requires sustained, consistent practice).

"One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way." Frank
Smith

Perhaps the author of this quotation is saying that while speaking just one language will not help you
advance, knowing several languages opens up your entire future. Sadly, I can speak from personal
experience. Words not flowing. lack knowledge. unable to come up with my own words. unable to speak
clearly or uncomfortable speaking to one another. Being ashamed of just speaking one language. cannot
communicate with others.

These things actually happened to me.

When I felt like I was trapped in a room, embarrassed to approach someone, or unsure of my skills.

I feared approaching them.

I could feel my own anxiety rising.

The worry that I could stumble or forget what I needed to say.

I was aware of my flaws and impurity, but I was unsure of how or where. I have doubts about my ability
because I have a difficult time picking up new languages.

To put it simply, I was frightened of taking on new challenges and possibly forgetting my native tongue.
If I can maintain a balance between my knowledge of my mother tongue language and that of a new,
foreign language.

People who only speak one language may presumably have difficulties in the future.

A different language is a different vision of life. – Federico Fellini

It's time to think about potential solutions to this issue at this point.
Satisfaction Step:

People should seek to assist their children in learning at least one widely used language, such as English,
in order to prepare them for the future. Children can also receive education outside of the classroom, at
home. Consider how your family enjoys spending time together for entertainment. Do you all have a
favorite TV show? What about films? There are many excellent movies and TV shows available with
subtitles or even audio in several languages. Next time you're planning a family movie night, turn those
on and see if you can identify any of your mutually favorite phrases.

Getting involved with your child when they are practicing something that can be tiresome or even
challenging at times is one of the greatest methods to motivate them. Show your child that you can
conquer any obstacles by studying together. It will help them feel less alone, improve their talents, and
develop their bonds with one another. You can also do this with friends or acquaintances who share
your interest in learning a new language so that you can put your knowledge and skills to use and
improve them.

For those who are unable to pay for the classes, there is another option. I would suggest that they look
at what we refer to as "The Internet." There are a ton of free websites and apps that will assist you
develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of any language you desire to study. The free
websites and mobile apps Duolingo, Mondly, Papago, word2word.com, and openculture.com all provide
language learning for various levels at your convenience. As a result, if you are motivated to learn a
foreign language, there are many various ways to do so.

Books could be a help too.

More than 70% of individuals regretted not taking a language class.

Regardless of school level, gender, or occupation, studies have shown that people who use their brains
more through developing their language skills likely to have reduced risks of dementia and memory
issues in later life.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places
you'll go.”
― Dr. Seuss

Visualization Step:

Your academics will improve if you learn another language.

Your chances of finding a job increase if you speak a foreign language.

Learning another language is made simpler by having knowledge of one.

By getting to know locals personally and overcoming linguistic difficulties that prohibit two people from
properly connecting, we can better grasp a culture. Culturally aware students experience a variety of
positive effects as well as some negative ones.

Learning a different language has many advantages for memory and listening abilities.

One is more actively interested and properly engaged in multi-cultural contexts when they are fluent in
another language. One's knowledge of a language improves after studying foreign languages.
Young learners should start studying a foreign language as soon as possible to improve their language
development, increase their learning abilities, and get ready for the working population. And for the
adults, it is not too late to learn a new language.

We live in a time of almost complete worldwide connection. Every day, people from various cultures
communicate with one another.

21% of people, according to a study by Kylie Moore, have lost out on job opportunities because they
don't speak a second language. Additionally, 58% of people felt humiliated when trying to converse with
someone who spoke a foreign language.

Others claimed that being monolingual prevented them from living fully. Among monolingual people,
the inability to converse with family members was a prevalent regret.

To maintain their proficiency in the primary languages used in the international business world, many
adults are enrolling in language learning programs or returning to school.

You face the risk of failing up a wide range of opportunities if you don't speak another language.

A disadvantage in the workplace, limitations in one's personal development, and experiences with other
cultures.

What difference can you make in learning a foreign/new language? Make new acquaintances, be
culturally varied, have good communication skills, be knowledgeable, and so on.

It takes courage to step outside of your comfort zone and learn a second or third language. Your sense
of success when speaking to someone in their own language will serve as your reward.

Action Step:

Learning several languages will help people communicate with others more effectively.

I discussed the reasons why having only one of these one language is a problem; what are the reasons
why people don't learn other languages, and what might be done to solve this issue?

Learning different languages enables you to learn to pay close attention for a longer amount of time
while also increasing and improving your memory.

Due to the frequent mental exercise required to retain multiple languages and improve your memory.
By doing so, you lessen your chances of developing Alzheimer's.

It could appear difficult and, in some situations, overwhelming for some people to learn a second
language. It's one of the best things you can do for yourself and your brain in the long run.

In an effort to sway your opinion on the matter and motivate you to begin learning a new tongue, I hope
I could change your mind.
