Question: What would you advise someone who is having difficulty dealing with failure?

We always see failure negatively. For an ordinary person, failure means you are not
enough. Failure means a dead end. But for me, there is more to failure. According to
someone I know, “If you fail to plan, plan to fail.”

I see failure as an opportunity. Failing means trying, the best thing I can advise
someone who is having difficulty dealing with failure is that life doesn’t end there. Failure
gives us an opportunity to grow and be the best version of ourselves. Life naturally has to
go through ups and downs. It would never go perfectly. We have different ways to cope
with dealing failure, but one of the most effective ways is acceptance. It should start with
acceptance. Once we get to accept failure, we begin to hope for something better.
Personally, I’ve gone through a lot of failures that people don’t know about. Like when I
joined editorial writing contest for division level. I won the first place, and it was my first
time to join such contests. During training, I have written a lot of pieces that were either
incorrect or not a strong article. Some often joked that maybe I joined the wrong contest
and that I don’t fit to be an Editorial writer. I failed a lot of times in creating an article that
would satisfy my coach, but as the saying goes, “Failing is part of the process.” Every time I
fail, I learn something and as the time goes by, I didn’t notice that I was already at the stage,
receiving an award and a medal. Every failure in my life gives me a lesson. These failures
are part of my success, I am who I am right now because of my failures. Later, I become
unstoppable. There came a point that I don’t fear failure. It’s the other way around. Failure
is just a mindset. If we fear failure, it will stop us from trying things and achieve our goals in
life. Remember, we have our whole life ahead of us.

It is a long way to overcome failure but if you believe in yourself, there is no room
for failure to reside within you. I encourage everyone to not be afraid of failing. Disregard
what others say about the things that you do. Note that what fears you makes you grow.
Finally, you are the hero of your own story. Perception of others is not your business.
Always believe in yourself and pull out the tiger within you. Failing is part of the process,
you will not learn without failure. Failure is a way for success.
