Before you start

Sequence

General Guidelines:
• Do the practices when you are relatively free. Morning is a good time.
• Try to be comfortable and still while doing your practices.
• Do the practices on light stomach conditions.
• Light stomach conditions:
4 hours after a full meal.
1.5 hours after a beverage (fruit juice)
2.5 hours after tea/coffee
2.5 hours after a beverage and light snack. (Snack=1or 2 biscuits or cookies)
Samosa is not a snack. It’s almost a full meal.
• If you smoke: Give a gap of 1.5 hours before practise.
• In case of consumption of alcohol: a gap of at least 8 hours before practice

Do your practice with eyes closed. Take off your eye-glasses.


Have a bath prior to the practice. Otherwise you have to wait for 3 hours after Kumbhak for a bath.

Copper Water
• Store water in a small copper vessel at night.
• Keep the copper vessel near your head on the bedside.
• When you wake up in the morning, put a little water on top of your head and
drink a little quantity (Not too much).
You can consume the rest of the water later if you wish.

Dakshinagni Kumbhak
• Use Vishnu Mudra. Close the Left Nostril.
• Please do the flapping
• Inhale slowly from the Right nostril (As much as possible) gently.

• Hold in fullness of breath, and Close both the nostrils.


• Flap your abdomen/tummy with in and out - 6 times (without inhaling/exhaling, and gently without a
jerk)
• Now close the right nostril. Inhale from Left (as much as possible) and close both nostrils.
• Flap your abdomen/tummy with in and out - 6 times (without inhaling/exhaling, and gently without a
jerk).
Vishnu Mudra
• Exhale from the Right nostril, as slowly as possible.
• Block both nostrils. Bloat tummy out and hold as per comfort.
• Inhale and Relax.
This is one round.
Do 4 rounds of this
Morning Preparatory 2

Kaka Chunchu Kumbhak


• Roll your tongue up and back.
• Roll your lips into an O and pull in air – 3 times (without exhaling), so that it hits the back of the
rolled tongue. Inhale once, pull in more, pull in more.
• Close mouth, Hold as per comfort.
• Exhale from nostrils, as slowly as possible, without making a sound.
• Relax your tongue. Breathe normally. This is one round.
Do 6 rounds of this

Note: Kaka Chunchu is to be done through the day. Once every hour. Do 2-3 rounds.
Cow Ghee/Virgin Coconut Oil

• Take 1.5 tablespoon (20-25 ml) of cow ghee on empty stomach after
Morning Preparatory/Before Kumbhak.
• Avoid consuming anything, including water,
30 minutes before or after the ghee consumption.
• Warm the ghee to melt and then consume it.

Desi Cow, A2 ghee is better than cow ghee. See and use what is available to you.

Regarding Locks
• While applying chin lock, the spine tends to bend.
• To prevent this, lift your chest a little to keep the spine
straight.
• Abdomen lock is only applied after exhale. If it gets applied
by itself naturally in a practice, no need to worry. To apply
abdomen lock, lift your diaphragm, tuck tummy in.
• Anal lock is kept on through the practice (where instructed).
It is to be released at the end. In case it gets released,
please apply it again. Don’t apply too much effort to apply
anal lock, as that will make it drop.
Dakshinavrat Nadi Shudhi Kumbhak

Hold your right hand in the Vishnu Mudra.

• Apply Anal Lock. Block your Left nostril.


• Inhale from Right to the count of 4.
• Appy Chin Lock. Hold for a count of 16.
• Lift head. Exhale from Left to the count of 8.
• Inhale from Left to the count of 4.
• Apply Chin Lock. Hold for a count of 16.
• Lift Head. Exhale from Right to a count of 8.
• Relax. Relax Anal Lock. Vishnu Mudra

This is one round.


Do this 6 times.
Shakti Kumbhak

A
Sit comfortably.
Apply Anal Lock.
Shakti Kumbhak
Inhale from the nostrils 3 times for a count of 4. (in Ujjai Breathing – using throat) Rounds & Nos.
Inhale. Pull more. Pull more 1. A – 1, B - 2
Apply chin lock and hold as per comfort.
Lift head. Close the Right nostril with Vishnu Mudra. 2. A – 3, B - 4
Exhale from Left to the count of 12. (In Ujjai Breathing – using throat)
Apply Chin Lock, Abdomen Lock and hold a little.
Lift head, Inhale, Relax abdomen and anal lock.
Do this process in Ujjai

Shakti Kumbhak

First put your left hand on your right shoulder. Then put your Right hand over it on the
Left shoulder. Hold a little tight. Shakti Kumbhak
Apply Anal Lock.
Inhale from the nostrils 3 times for a count of 4. (in Ujjai Breathing – using throat)
Rounds & Nos.
Inhale. Pull more. Pull more 1. A – 1, B - 2
Apply chin lock and hold as per comfort. 2. A – 3, B - 4
Tense the body, lift head and Exhale slowly to the count of 12.
Apply Chin Lock, Abdomen Lock and hold a little.
Lift head, Inhale, Relax abdomen and anal lock. Relax the body.
Do this process in Ujjai
A & B have to be done as per the numbers given.
Breathing
Hamsadhwani Vyana Kriya
Close your Eyes.
Apply Anal lock.
Inhale 3 times without exhaling.
Apply Chin lock. Hold as per comfort.
Tense your body
While keeping the chin lock on, exhale slowly making the sound Hhhhmm.
Exhale/hhhm sound to be relaxed and as long as possible.
This is one round.

Do this for 12 rounds.


Take rest between rounds if needed.

Note: The sound HHHmm should be heavy humming…more hhh…less mmm


Evening Practices

• To be done in the second half of the day.


• Can be done in the evening or just before dinner.
• Please maintain appropriate food/beverage gaps before the practices.
Murchana Kumbhak

Do rapid breathing (short, quick breathing) for 1 minute. • If while doing rapid

Water Consumption
