Topic/Topics: Making Projections in Enrollment

Summary:

Making projections is always associated with making plans among the

educational planners. In line with making forecasts in the enrollment, it is essential
because factors like staff, facilities and funds are dependent on it. Every year the
number of enrolment is changing due to population dynamics and in turn affects the
number of enrolment in a particular institution or school. Through projections, the
school will be able to determine what are the resources needed by the students and
how are these resources be allocated to each of them. In making projections, the
students’ geographic location must be put into consideration.

Response

I agree that enrolment is one of the basis in the allocation of funds in a

particular school or institution. Making a sound projection to enrolment will allow
the school leader to make advance adjustments as to the number of teachers
needed, the number of classrooms that will be prepared, and the methods in the
delivery of learning and etc. To have prior knowledge about the demographic
profile of the learners will allow the school leader to project what actions are
needed to cater them just like the scenario we are experiencing nowadays. Also,
in making projections to enrolment will allow the teachers and staff to prepare the
needed facilities suitable to them.

Topic/Topics: Making Projections in Staffing

Summary:

Staffing is defined as one of the functions played by the managers which

comprises recruitment, selection, training, developing, promotion and compensation
of personnel. Staffing is essential in every organization as it helps the organization
acquire competent and deserving personnel for the position and in turn these
people will provide productivity in the position they are placed.

Response

Putting the right people in the right position helps in the attainment of
goals of a particular institution. This determines the productivity of the employees
in performing their daily duties at work. In this sense, a principal or administrator
must choose the right people for the school since these are the people who will be
working for the school or institution. However, it is rampant in some of the
institutions if not all, to have the "backer system" issue which should be stopped.
Applicants should pass through proper recruitment and selection. I also agree that
staffing does not stop on the selection and hiring of applicants. Employees must
undergo training relevant to their position. However, as I observed in the field,
there are instances that teachers are sent to a particular training even if it is not
relevant to him or her but because the teacher is close to the head or principal.
And teachers who are sent to trainings sometimes are not implementing or
sharing what they learned from the training being attended. I really believe in the
importance of having a just and proper evaluation of employees’ performance in
order to improve quality performance. Employees will become motivated and
become more productive once they know that every employee is being evaluated
fairly.

Topic/Topics: Making Projections in Budgeting

Summary:

Budgeting in education plays a big part in the field. It is the practice of

projecting the quantitative aspect of the future operations of an institution or
school. Through this, decision-making will be assisted at all levels of administration
and the future costs will be quantified. There are various factors that need to be
considered in the preparation of a comprehensive budget which include student
enrolment, revenue and expenditure projections, cash flow projections and assessed
property value projections. There are four critical stages of the school budgeting
process which include review, planning, forecasting, implementation and evaluation.

Response:

Financial resources which include money is important in every school

operations. Forecasting about the needed facilities, equipment, human resources
is important in school budgeting. This will allow the administrator or principal to
work with the budget officer in school, to see if there is proper allocation of funds
in a whole year round. In this sense, the budget officer can make adjustments as
to what things or needed materials must be prioritized and be allocated with the
budget. Proper projections in budgeting will allow the school to allocate funds
appropriately and effectively without wasting material resources and provide
higher priority to things that are badly needed at hand.

Topic/Topics: Monitoring and Evaluation of Educational Programs Projects and
Activities

Summary:

Monitoring is defined as an activity designed to provide feedback in relation

to a particular project or program implemented in schools. Evaluation on the other
hand is the process of obtaining data as bases in making future decisions. Monitoring
and evaluation are two important practices done in every organization as these
identify the program’s areas of weaknesses and points for corrective actions to
improve the implementation of such programs for the second time around.

Response:

I believe that monitoring and evaluation are two essential processes that
need to be conducted in every school. To monitor and evaluate the
implementation of educational programs or projects will allow everyone in school
to make adjustments and to make things right for the second time of its
implementation or this will serve as a basis whether a particular activity really
serve its purpose well. In some instances, teachers assigned or designated to
perform particular activities are just passive and not complying with the task given
to them if the school head is not constantly monitoring the said teacher assigned.
Through this, employees will be kept motivated and active in performing their
task. Through evaluation of projects, this will allow the head and teachers
whether to make adjustments to the projects and activities to improve more the
said activity for its next implementation.

Topic/Topics: Sustainability of Education through Educational Planning in the
Philippines

Summary:

Educational planning is one of the components in attaining basic education’s

quality and sustainability. Also, it is one way of identifying which area of
improvements that need to be focused in line with the fulfillment of the
sustainability of the development goals of education. Education for sustainability is
not only for providing information but for the transformation of change. Also, it is
guided by the principle that education is for all and for lifelong learning. It focuses on
a genuine partnership to build networks and relationships between different sectors
in the community.
Response:

In the school-based management, sustainability is given importance. The

different projects and activities being implemented in schools should be sustained
through the years and this is possible with educational planning and development.
I believe that one of the determinants of the sustainability of the projects and
activities is the good leadership, proper monitoring and evaluation of the school
head or principal. Behind this planning and development are the school head,
teachers and other stakeholders who are always willing to lend a hand in school.
