ARCHITECTURAL PROGRAMMING
A. Sectoral Problem Address – mention summary of Book I, what sector &
different sectors. Mention specific sectors to address (as per sectoral problem
analysis…”There is a need to establish on region a proposal to serve the region
or part of the region’s # of population). State the scope of the problem
(percentage of how big, how many beneficiaries the proposal will
accommodate), specific problem needs.

B. Site Criteria – establish site criteria for the proposal, where or what is the
particular area in the region.

C. Site Selection - present at least 3 options of sites then select the best
possible site for the proposal based on the site criteria established. Present
details of the 3 sites through:

1. Government Priorities – mention the site where that proposed


development is being prioritized by the government, consider land uses

2. Geologic Factors – soil type of site, land capability (class & slope
characteristics)

3. Location – orientation, presence of pollution, sun, wind, etc.

4. Utilities – presence of sources of water, electricity, etc.

5. Architectural Features – physical character of the different sites.

D. Site Justification – justify site selected for the proposal

E. Formulation of Goals & Objectives

1. Goal of the Project – consider projection of needs, accommodation


(good for how many years)

2. Significance of the Project – discuss how the proposal will help


alleviate the particular problem addressed

3. Specific Objectives – present exact numerical data of the proposal

F. Establish Design Philosophy

1. Dictum – present own dictum or mention a dictum of a known


architect (local/international) that will be used in the design
proposal.

2. Form Concept & Layout – present own concept/identity for the


proposal

G. Design Considerations – present general & detailed
considerations

1. Layout (land form, land capability, slope, etc.)

2. Utilities (water, electricity, etc.)

3. Orientation (ventilation, lighting, etc.)

4. Building Laws (NBC, Fire Code, etc.)

5. Material Specifications (structural, functional & aesthetics use)

6. System of Construction (structural, functional & aesthetics


importance)

I. Space Computation – establish approximate size of spaces according to


computation of occupants & furniture/equipment required.

J. Establish Return on Investment (ROI) – identify sources of funds that can


be used for the proposal, whether from government or private companies.
Present brief financial report regarding the return on investment of the financer
& how the proposal will generate income.

K. Impact Analysis – perform environmental & sectoral impact analysis of the


proposal (present activity & traffic maps from the selected site). Discuss results
of the analyses.

L. Review Related Studies – present previous related studies from


manuscripts & present a synthesis of these studies relating to the proposal.

M. Appendices – pertinent tables, graphs & documentations such as pictures &


profiles
