Why Did I choose this leader?

Emma Watson, or Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson
who was best known for playing the young wizard
Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films is not only
an iconic actress but also an activist, humanitarian and
also contemporary leader. Emma Watson has left her
mark on society as a whole by connecting with all
genders and generations. She is most connected to the
field of public relations because of her work as a UN
Women Goodwill Ambassador. I chose to study about
what she has contributed to public relations because I
have watched her influence over the years. Emma is a
symbol of intellect in my generation and also has
become a role model to both girls and boys around the
world.
One of the most interesting concepts in public relations is the potential for communication in
the most natural, transparent way, and Emma is a true example of that. She uses her platform
to spark change and communicate powerful ideas in a conversational, yet influential manner.
Watson was one of the many celebrities who began making use of leadership power and their
platform for organizations that seek a greater good.

Emma Watson became this spokesperson and societal leader by the positive traits she
possesses. Throughout her days as a famous actress, she never got in trouble or caught doing
something bad and always stayed credible in the public eye. She has a competitive degree from
Brown and is well spoken whether on a television interview or giving the famous speech at the
UN. She shows her intellect through cognitive abilities and educational history, acting as a
leader by inspiring young women to read, write and pursue their passions. She’s always poised
and put together, encouraging her followers to do the same. Watson is able to exhibit her
knowledge in the feminist movement by her experiences with gender inequality first-hand. She
speaks out to other women, and men, to take note of these inequalities.

DETAIL OF LEADER

Watson’s Early Life

 Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris. Her parents, both
British lawyers, are Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. Her brother, Alex, was born
three years later. Her parents divorced when Watson was 5, and she moved back to
Oxfordshire in England with her mother and brother.

 Watson attended the Stagecoach Theatre Arts School at Oxford. She studied singing,
acting and dancing, and performed in school plays. Her natural instinct for acting first
came out when she won a poetry competition for reciting James Reeves' "The Sea" at
age 7.

 From a very young age, she dreamt of becoming an actress to pursue her dreams, while
attending Dragon School, in Oxford. By the age of 10, she had performed in a number
of stage productions and plays. It was at the behest of her school teachers that she
decided to audition for the role of Harry’s best friend, Hermione Granger.

 She auditioned for the role eight times, beating all her seniors to bag the role.
Interestingly, right from the audition, she won the heart of the author herself, J.K.
Rowling

Watson’s Education

The preparation she received from Headington was instrumental to her success in her A Level
