TO SHOW DON’T TELL

I. Angry
I slammed the cup down on the table, feeling like it was about to burst. I swung my
legs to the floor and stood up with flaming eyes and wide nostrils. My mouth hung
open and bright teeth glared at me. My veins were popping and rolled my eyes. My
knuckles were as red as if they had been stung by a bee. My head is hot like fire.
Somewhere I still feel the fire inside me as if burning.
II. Fear
Her chilling doubts began to crystallize. Fear pumped blood through her veins and
sharpened all her senses. Suddenly there was a sound that kept ringing in my ears. I
felt a wave of fear rise from head to toe. I screamed in horror with a pounding
heart. I began to gasp after feeling a chilling terror. My hand was shaking and
biting my nails. Knees whimpered and jerked in surprise. A chill ran down my
spine. I got goosebumps from the cold as if it was pressing cold on me. My face
was terribly pale, my eyes bloodshot.
III. Happy
I jumped up and down. I unintentionally flashed a bright smile. My eyes shine like
the sun. I laughed and spoke very quickly and loudly. Soaring chords almost
appeared in my heart. Those sounds echoed in my head. It feels like dancing in my
head. My arms flailed around and around the house like the first time I was so
happy. I'm on cloud nine.
IV. Tired
My veins were all over my face. My eyes were red, not as bright as before. I
yawned from time to time. I rested my head on my hand. It was frustrating! My
feeling became cranky, no matter what anyone says. My body sagged a lot, like
being crushed by a rock. My eyes wanted to drop to let time pass for a good night's
sleep.
V. Sad
I could almost feel the tears in my heart. Tears rolled down my cheeks. My voice
trembled as I uttered the gentle words. Maybe I always lower my head and bited
my lower lip when I was gloomy. I got a lump in my throat. What a choking
feeling at that time! “Always be yourself” is a saying that calms me down.
VI. Hot
I squint as I step outside into the blazing sun, its golden glare almost blinding me.
The crickets chirping, out of sight, loud and clear: the quintessential summer
sound. I've only been out for a few minutes, but I can already feel my skin starting
to burn under the harsh glare of the sun. Drops of sweat fell on my shirt, soaking it
all over. It seems that this salty taste is impressive

VI. Cold
Brrrr!” I tuck my hands into the sleeves of my rain slicker, drawing deeper into the
sheltering overhang. “fingers won’t bend, they’re cheaply frozen.” I could see my
breath in the air. Snowflakes fell on my nose causing it to turn red from the cold. I
get goosebumps and always rub my hands together to stay warm. I shivered from
the cold air blowing through. What a wonderful time!
VII. Shy
My voice suddenly became softer and softer. My face was as red as a tomato. I
could barely raise my head because I was afraid to see it. I felt like I was hiding in
myself, unable to come out. I kept holding my hands tightly to hide my fear. I no
longer have any eye-contact.
VIII. Autumn
Looks like watching the fallen leaves dancing in the wind reminds me of autumn.
Seasons in which there are transitions with cool temperatures and mild weather.
There is so much to love about autumn. At this time, it is time for the trees to
change their clothes. What a wonderful season! Autumn symbolizes change—the
change of leaves, the start of a new school year, and maybe even the beginning of
some new resolutions.
