Abstract: The possible benefits of orthodontics treatment are numerous. Orthodontics treatment can improve the appearance of
the teeth and face, can correct the bite and make it easier to eat. Patients should finish their therapy with healthy gums and teeth.
Unfortunately, some patients do experience problems during orthodontic treatment. Most problems are preventable if patients
take care of their teeth and gums. Patients in active orthodontics are scheduled for routine appointments regularly. This is a
great opportunity for the orthodontic team to assess home care and determine if there are problems with oral health. It is
imperative for the orthodontic team to be iTOP (individually training of oral prophylaxis) educated in order to train patients how
to maintain proper oral hygiene. iTOP is new preventive approach in motivation for oral hygiene and control of the biofilm
Brushing and cleaning is much more complicated with braces plus they have to clean orthodontics hardwear. One device or
cleaning technique can't accomplish the biofilm removal. Only the combination of devices and techniquees provides succsesfull
oral hygiene. Oral hygiene procedures have to be created and controled by dental proffesional . iTOP is independent preventive
program and provide criteria for choice of the correct and incorrect devices and cleaning techniques. Criteria are acceptability,
efficiency and nontraumatic.
