Throughout excerpts from Brutus No. 1, written by an anonymous author, it’s argued that
America under no circumstance should adopt a new constitution. The author displays his
reasoning through support to logical appeal through diction, extensive imagery of a republic’s
future, and significant parallel structure explaining the political process. The author implements
such support in order to display his negative views of the constitution and advocate for a small,
decentralized republic. The intention of this writing is to educate the American people and
persuade them to agree with the point of view of the unknown author.
