I am grateful to all of those with whom I have had the pleasure to work during this and other related
projects. Each of the members of my classmates has provided me extensive personal and professional
guidance and taught me a great deal about both information research and life in general. I would
especially like to thank Sir Mohd Zailani bin Othman. As my teacher and mentor, he has taught me
more than I could ever give him credit for here. He has shown me, by his example, what a good student
(and person) should be. Nobody has been more important to me in the pursuit of this project than the

whatever I pursue. They are the ultimate role models.

pickup, to Walmart USA. In January 2018, it was announced that McKenna would rejoin Walmart
International and take over as president and CEO from David Cheesewright. In addition, she  is
managing strategy and operations in more than 25 nations, including Mexico, Canada, China, and

2.0 LEADERSHIP TRAITS AND SKILLS

Knowledge and Expertise

Judith McKenna, the chief operating officer of Walmart, said, “We want to make it easier for customers
to spend.” To achieve this goal, Walmart recruits shopping assistants to increase the service content of
physical stores, like shortening the waiting time for customers to pay, opening additional goods storage
points during busy hours, and helping customers recover lost items. (Cai, 8)

Self Confidence

In 2018, Judith Mckenna displayed her leadership skills and self-assurance when she decided to spend
16 billion dollars to buy 77% of Flipkart, the biggest online retailer in India. She claims that "as we grow
our business, this is a good cultural fit that aligns with Walmart's goal of enhancing India's success
narrative." After bravely taking a significant risk, Walmart now has the chance to grow. In an official
statement following the acquisition's completion in August, McKenna said, "We are thrilled to learn
from, contribute to, and cooperate with Flipkart to expand in India, one of the fastest-growing and most
alluring retail marketplaces in the world. (Kanani, 2018)

7
3.0 LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOUR

TASK ORIENTED

Judith Mckenna always shows task-oriented style in her leadership. She do step by step planning to
deal with the modernize. According to McKenna, Walmart has spent the last few years developing a
scaleable employee training programme. She stated that the company's "Academy" programme offered
associates the chance to "learn the skills to execute their jobs, learn leadership skills, and learn digital."
Even though the need for job training is growing, McKenna noted that part of the plan is to have a
continuing education programme. The academy train over 50 000 people. Other than the U.S. military,
she went on, it was the largest national training program. (WEISSMAN, 2022)

RELATION ORIENTED

Being diverse is one of the company's strongest characteristics, according to Judith Mckenna, who is
renowned for her abilities as a team leader. The organisation is likewise motivated to address issues of
equity and inclusion. building a place where individuals may live, grow, and learn while also enjoying
themselves. To encourage people to speak up and ask for help, she, for instance, ran a "It's Okay"
campaign that included the statement "It's okay to not be okay." That is also a relation-oriented
component of resilience. Other than that, She also do a few thing to keep up spirit and create positivity
between their employees. They do a number of tiny noticeable things (we call them TNTs) like Zoom-
free Wednesdays, making sure our leaders are talking about and modelling the importance of wellness.
And also do some things that are fun – like a Bollywood dancing video! But they are also more
structured by making sure everybody understands. (Verástegui, 2021) .If every part of human
resources is not addressed in appropriate manner, mostly employees will fail to fully engage themselves
in their job in the response to such kind of mismanagement. (Markos, 2010)

4.0 LEADERSHIP POWER

POSITION POWER

For the positional power, she had appointed new President of Walmart in China,Xiaojing Christina
Zhu eventhought she never met her in person. she started virtually, and she leads her business
without having ever been to Bentonville. And the effect is China leads the world in speed delivery.
(SHAPIRO, 2021)Even she have the power, she didn’t have negative traits such as Machiavellianism,
psychopathy, and narcissism. (Wisse, 2016)

PERSONAL POWER

For the personal power, she has a characteristic which is consideration. For example, when she was  panelist at
the 2016 Milken Institute Global Conference, she trust every team lead to be the "entrepreneur" of their own
domain and encourage them to run their department as its own small business. She entrusted her subordinates
to make their own decision at their own department. (ROVELLO, 2019)

CONCLUSION

9
As a conclusion, Judith Mckenna exemplifies excellent leadership, which is described as the process
through which a person influences others and inspires, motivates, and directs their activity to achieve
organisational goals. She can therefore become a great leader because to her intelligence and tenacity.
