Task Objective
The task is to create a free verse or rhymed poem based on one of the three suggested
topics. It may be rhymed or free verse as long as it is composed of 20–30 lines. Make sure
that your poem adheres to your chosen topic.

Task Requirements
1. Select between a free verse or a rhymed poem.
2. Choose one among the three suggested topics for your poem: the power of youth,
the influence of media, or the Filipino and society. The teacher may opt to
provide other suggested topics. The student may also suggest his or her preferred
topic.
3. Apply at least ten poetic devices and techniques in writing the lines of your poem.

4. Limit your poem to a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 lines.


5. If the poem does not fit on a single page, write (cont.) at the bottom as markers to
indicate additional pages.
6. Add a unique title. Do not use your chosen topic as the title of your poem but write
it inside the parentheses below your poem’s title.
7. On a separate page, list down the lines in your poem that use poetic devices and
techniques. Separate them into three categories: sound devices, sensorial devices,
and other devices. Follow this format:

8. Check for grammar errors and proofread before submission.

Alternative Digital Output


The poem may be submitted as a short film similar to a music video or a recorded
performance with subtitles for the poem’s text. Outputs must be sent to the
teacher in multimedia format, alongside a copy of the poem and the list of
categorized lines as a document file.

Rubric for Checking


The work will be judged by the following standards based on language, creativity, and
technical correctness. The student must demonstrate an understanding of and proficiency
in using poetic language. He or she must also show the ability to write creatively while
maintaining correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

The rubric provided is a suggested one. Your teacher may modify the rubric based on your
needs. Consult your teacher for the final rubric.
