NAPOLEON BONAPARTE (1769-1821) was
one of the most famous military leaders and rulers of
France. For ten years, from 1804-1814, and again briefly
in 1815, he served as emperor of France until his final
exile to the island of St. Helena.
He is famous of his military tactics and won most of his
wars and the vast majority of his battles, building a large
empire that ruled over much of continental Europe. He is
considered one of the greatest commanders in history,
and his wars and campaigns are studied at military
schools worldwide.
