Workshop 1: Biosecurity Risk Assessment
2 hours course - Risk assessment of the organisms and the activities Instructors:
- Results of a biosecurity risk assessment will be unique to each institution and each laboratory Hatem FAKHFAKH
10h-12h - A laboratory biosecurity risk assessment should consider every asset as well as every vulnerability Faten GORSANE
- A biosecurity risk assessment allows an institution to determine the relative level of security risk
they face, and helps guide risk mitigation decisions
- Incident / emergency management
- Hands-on exercise

Workshop 2: Bioethics and Biosecurity education tools

2 hours course - Understanding biological risks and dual use issues in life sciences Instructors:
- Developing active learning resources / tool for dual- use issues Faten GORSANE
14h-16h - Case scenarios for responsible conduct of research Hatem FAKHFAKH
- Hands-on exercise

Workshop 3: Developing and Validating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

2 hours course - Several key components comprise an effective SOP Instructors:


- SOPs must be validated before implementation - Maher CHAOUACHI
9h-11h - Behavioral observation data metrics can be used to validate/measure effectiveness of an SOP - Safa BOUAZRA
- SOPs must be revised as needed
- Hands-on exercise
