Good Practice

Good practice definition A practice which has proven to give good results (in terms of performance) and on
which acknowledged experts agree, that re-application (on comparable locations) will
achieve similar good results.

This template is designed to share Good Practices amongst OpCo’s. By completing this template, we can share company
specific knowledge that can inspire others to generate new ideas on improving the working process.

Instructions This template should be completed in English and attached to the original format of
your Good Practice document. Please support the Good Practice document with any
relevant materials i.e. photos, videos or (news) articles. You can upload your Good

Document Title: Sampling Procedure for Physicochemical Analysis

Short Description of the 1. What is the Good Practice about?

Good Practice: The GP is sampling procedure for physicochemical analysis in detail.
2. What can the Good Practice be used for?
The GP is helpful for ease of sampling.
3. Which decisions / activities took place to implement?
NA
4. Who / where involved and why?
All staff who are trained in this procedure may take samples as per this
procedure. This includes Laboratory personnel and production operators.

Applicability 1. For whom is this a relevant Good Practice?

when/why should we use it): This procedure is applied for all types of in-process sample including: mash,
wort, fermenting beer, stored beer, bright beer, stored yeast, spent grain and
finished product used for physical-chemical analysis. Lab analyst or operator
who involves in taking sample and analysis must follow this procedure
2. In which situation(s) does it apply?
In all situations.
3. Pre-requisites (e.g. technical / organizational / environmental)?
No pre-requisite
Objectives for implementing To provide simple guidelines to ensure that analytical laboratory samples are sampled
this Good Practice: in a manner that will provide a representative sample for subsequent analysis. and
describe sampling procedure to ensure that the sample taken is representative for the
whole. This document also provides the special sampling technique for those sample
used for physical-chemical analysis so that the integrity of sample and result
generated from them is guaranteed.
Impact on performance: 1. In what way does this Good Practice contribute to performance (improvement)?
Less time to understand and implement the sampling procedure for the analysis
2. To which Key Performance Indicators is it related?
FTR Analysis.
Advices / Learnings: 1. What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of implementing this
Good Practice?
Implement the GP
2. What should they pay attention to?
Follow safe systems of work must be followed in relation to any sampling done
throughout the brewery. Sampling for stock caustic require plastc bottles with
full PPE
Required resources: 1. Which costs where involved?
No cost
