Performance Task
Track: Academic

Your group is hired as a consultant to guide Nong Edgar and his team of gardeners on the proper maintenance of
indoor plants in a newly constructed Glass laboratory building of SHS Science Department. The Principal insists that he
wants native plants to be grown inside the building where there is access to light. However, the walls and ceilings of the
building are not made of clear glass but of different colors.
As a consultant, you decide to demonstrate the effect of these colored glass sections to the growth of plants. You
will show their effects on the photosynthesis of plants based on the amount of energy they absorb from light.
You will proceed with the experimental set up as shown below and observe any changes in plant growth. Record
your observations within 5 days interval. Measure the length of the stems and leaves of each set and compare the data you
gathered with those of the control set-up.
The experiment is to be observed within 2 weeks. Draft the experiment using the steps in scientific investigation.
Your draft will be evaluated by the Principal and the Science teachers for its;

a. Completeness and correctness of the basic steps of scientific investigation- 30 %

b. Logic of the questions your group posed for data observation, analysis, and conclusion- 35 %
c. Accuracy of results- 35 %
